Aegis
Good news is that OSx86 10.4.8 installed successfully on my WD Raptor 74GB. Took a little while longer for me to figure out how to dual-boot, but there's still a few problems left with my install. On boot, Setup Assistant usually starts after the Welcome video. Mine does start up, but keeps looping after I finish the network part. Said something about the bus being blocked (ATA bus maybe?) during the initialization screen. And the last problem is that my keyboard (PS/2) is not working. Any help is appreciated!
pip11
For a PS/2 keyboard to work, a PS/2 mouse also needs to be connected. Either find a ps/2 mouse (going through the adapter that comes with most usb mice will work), or use a usb keyboard. As for the looping, not sure. Try skipping as much as you can (don't set up a network connection, don't register, etc.)
Aegis
There's no alternative? I neither have a PS/2 mouse (or the converter) or a USB keyboard. It would be a shame to have come so far only to have such an issue prevent me from using the OS. And I've skipped all I can with the Setup Assistant to no avail. Even tried deleting Setup Assistant.app, which only caused kernel panic.
macgirl
If you want a USB Mouse you can attach a very cheap PS2 mouse to fill the PS2 ports, you end with 2 mice but get a workin USB one

westep23
If your installing on sata, and i guess you are on a raptor, And have nforce4 it dosn't work. That's your device blocking error. Eventually your drive will get so corrupted that you won't be able to boot at all. You'll have to install on a ide drive.
macgirl
nForce4 SATA does not work well at all, no matter which brand. other nForce chipsets have better results.
Aegis
Thank you guys for your help on the keyboard issue. I think I'll risk it with the nForce SATA if only to experience a few days of using OS X. The Setup Assistant still loops though, and I'm not quite sure how to fix it either.
