joelones
Hi Guys, Great work btw! New to the osx86 scene. Installed 10.4.8 just recently on my AMD 3800 and loving it so far. In the hope to not risk trashing my Sata drive with Linux and Windows installed, I decided to unplug the Sata drive and install os x on a spare Ide drive which I had around. Install went fine but when I tried plugging the Sate drive back in I got a blue screen and IO blocking bus message. I would really like to have access to a Fat32 partition on the Sata drive from os x running on the ide. Is this possible? westep23
Need hardware info, If you have nforce4 sata it won't work. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/34358-sata-and-ide-boot-problem/#findComment-243532 Share on other sites
Rammjet
what motherboard? go to Terminal and type: ioreg -lw 0 > ~/Desktop/ioreg.txt On your Desktop, find the file ioreg.txt. Attach that file to a posting here. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/34358-sata-and-ide-boot-problem/#findComment-243553 Share on other sites

Rammjet
Yes the Sata chipset is a nforce4. Mobo: LANPARTY nF4 SLI-DR. Here is the ioreg.txt. The ioreg.txt is chopped off before it gets to the SATA section. Don't know what happened. Anyway, nForce4 SATA is rather iffy. Hard to get working and if you do, may suffer data corruption. Go here and find SATA section: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showforum=45 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/34358-sata-and-ide-boot-problem/#findComment-243595 Share on other sites
joelones
Rammjet, Thanks for the reply. I realize now why the attachment was cut off. When I issue the command ioreg -lw 0 > ~/Desktop/ioreg.txt I get an error: ioreg: error: can't obtain properties. So I guess it would be too risky to attempt an install on osx on my main sata drive (perhaps in a logical partition) and configure grub to boot into it?
