Ok, many time and I have a result - in VMware u must set 1 processor and all cores in your real processor.

In my choice - R7 3700x - 1 processor and 8 cores. Installed ok.

U need version for AMD.

What do you mean with version for amd?

Nobody can with version 15.5

You have to stay at 15.1

Uninstall and then reinstall 15.1

Just upgraded from old Intel i5 to AMD Ryzen 3700x and hit by the 15.5 bug/update. I downgraded to 15.1.0 but still getting the "CPU has been disabled" message.

Any tips ?

Maybe you have upgraded hardware version of the mac vm. It needs version 10. If it is on version 10 copy the following in the vmx file.

smc.version = "0"
cpuid.0.eax = "0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:1011"
cpuid.0.ebx = "0111:0101:0110:1110:0110:0101:0100:0111"
cpuid.0.ecx = "0110:1100:0110:0101:0111:0100:0110:1110"
cpuid.0.edx = "0100:1001:0110:0101:0110:1110:0110:1001"
cpuid.1.eax = "0000:0000:0000:0001:0000:0110:0111:0001"
cpuid.1.ebx = "0000:0010:0000:0001:0000:1000:0000:0000"
cpuid.1.ecx = "1000:0010:1001:1000:0010:0010:0000:0011"
cpuid.1.edx = "0000:1111:1010:1011:1111:1011:1111:1111"
featureCompat.enable = "FALSE"

This does work for Ryzen on Windows 10 with VMware 15.0. But not with 15.5, I get "Failed to start the virtual machine." error.

Hitting the same issue with VMWare 16. Forget it, if you have AMD CPU, won't work. I get the same error "Failed to start the virtual machine".
