macattackjack
Trying to install Catalina. Search function on this website is not working at all. All my search inquiries, even searching the term "Catalina" shows zero results. Are there any step by step installation guides for Creating a flash drive installer for Catalina Installation guides with drivers, links to drivers, step by step and the like The OSX86 Wiki page is uncharacteristically empty. I can't see any entries beyond Sierra. The more recent High Sierra, Mojave and Catalina show no entries. Has posting in the wiki gone out of vogue? Biggest issue. I need recommendations on an inexpensive graphics card. I am using the GT710 2 gig with Mojave, but I'm seeing posts around that say Apple has dumped all support. Hervé has some posts about NCAP, but then again, I can't search this site to find those files. macattackjack
Hi Hervé I will try that. I am however confused on a couple of things the Whatevergreen build has a four files, where do the dsl and whatever name files go. and I saw one post where the person put lilu and whatever green in the "other" folder in kexts. Should I put those three files in the 10.15 folder or other? Or it makes no difference. And Yes I am using the VGA out. It's working on 10.14.6 As of now, it was hanging on PCI Begin, which in my experience has always been a video card incompatibility issue, which was resolved by getting a compatible card. As I said, I tried searching for the NVCAP injection links but can't find anything at this point. macattackjack
Attempted both with and without nv_disable=1 and all keep hanging at PCI begin I put whatevergreen files in the 10.15. kext folder the ssdt file from that folder in the patched ACPI folder, which I think didn't help. macattackjack
Bingo! I few tweaks with the config.plist and figuring out the required patch in Clover Configurator did it. Thanks! macattackjack
A couple of things Were you updating from 10.14.6 or elsewhere? What is your video card? Do you have another hard drive with a working system you can use to edit your EFI folder and it's contents? My process was a little long. I had 10.14.3 on a HFS formatted drive, so I had to clone it to a APFS drive, then update it to 10.14.6, then download the Catalina installer, then install it. It got stuck after the first reboot, which is when I posted here. For video, while people say the GT710 should work OOB, it never did. Well, it worked but only at low resolution. I ended up using the Nvidia web drivers, and that solved the resolution problem. In Clover - kexts - other I have the files below. What was hanging me up was the embedded controller check. To solve that I downloaded the latest version of Clover Configurator, which had the EC0 to EC as a preset. I added that and used the numbers Clover Configurator gave me, and the system booted properly. However, it looks like yours is hanging in a different place. Mine was hanging at PCI begin. But you also may need npci=0x2000 kext-dev-mode=1 -no_compat_check in your boot arguments. If I remember correctly using -v will not work without npci=0x2000 for some systems. I am using version 5070 of clover. I attached my config file if that will help you to compare. Please note it's set with zero splash screen time, so if you want to use it and access it, you have to start hitting the tab key as soon as the computer gets past the bios screen. config.plist Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/340727-weirdly-mac/#findComment-2693713 Share on other sites
loganMac
Thanks. I'm doing a clean installation. My card GT740 (Kepler GK107 chip) so it should be OOB too. I will check if I need EC0 to EC and npci=0x2000 kext-dev-mode=1 -no_compat_check Thanks. macattackjack
I am not sure how you determine that, but I do know mine wouldn't boot until I put it in. But good luck.
