JustAnotherIdiot
okay I am having weird problems FACT:- C DRIVE has Windows XP Installed (NTFS) FACT:- F DRIVE has OS X Installed (OS X Journal) FACT:- F DRIVE is Active Now problem number one is that the OS X doesn't boot without DVD i-e I have to have the DVD in the drive and wait until the installer done its counting (when it ask for f8 and options). Once its done counting it reads a bit of DVD and then start OS X which then work flawlessy now thing is that I cant access my windows because that f8 option (for bootloader) doesn't work :S and even if I set C DRIVE as active partition then windows doesnt boot and I get error saying "Error loading operating system" (something like that...dont exactly remember) I really want it to go dual boot without fuss and offcourse want to boot OS X without DVD :S any help will be appreciated pardon me if these questions have been asked before TIA Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/34018-weird-problems/ Share on other sites

Orea
I will help, Use a live linux live cd to set the mac os partition to boot by itself, or ask it to boot windows, and then you can install, acronis os selector, this will then enable you to select which os you boot into! Ok BaYlisS Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/34018-weird-problems/#findComment-240871 Share on other sites

captainsquash
JAI - Would you mind telling me what you're using for your bootloader? I haven't had the best of luck with the MS win bootloader or the OS X bootloader alone. I used Acronis OS Selector, part of the Disk Director suite, seemed to work pretty well for me. It wasn't an ideal setup, I wanted to get it going with just OS X or windows bootloader, but I didn't really have much luck. I got tired of windows and now I boot only into OS X Perhaps the bootloader is the problem.. I'm not entirely sure. It sounds like it might be the culprit though. captainsquash
Well I hope it works for you and I wish you good luck. I'm sure the Darwin bootloader would work, I just didn't want to bother with it, call me lazy Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/34018-weird-problems/#findComment-241082 Share on other sites
JustAnotherIdiot
haha never came to the point to try darwin loader apparently I just changed the letters in boot.ini like before i had C:\CHAIN0="Os X" and i just changed them to small letters :S and it all seems to work I never thought and I still dont think that this was the problem of case sensitivity well atleast its working BUT (yes another But) when I select darwin I have to select my drive otherwise if i leave it to count it'll come back to OS selection menu and I THINK it has selects my C drive for darwin by default so if i can change it to select OS X partition it could work pretty much flawlessy but as I said once i select os x and then select my OS x partition it boots without a trouble and it is working fine with my duo core on :S [boot loader] ;timeout=30 default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS timeout=15 [operating systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect C:\chain0="Mac OS x86" Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/34018-weird-problems/#findComment-241333 Share on other sites
