I have a latest Parallels Desktop installed (build 1970). But every time I try to install Windows XP, it crashes (with kernel panic). In absolutely random point. Sometimes during the disk formatting, sometimes in the last stage of installation (about 2..3 minutes before the end).

Just installed latest semthex kernel... added SMBios patch... nothing helps!

I'm running out of ideas.. :P

This is just a suggestion, but the first thing I would do is get yourself at least a P4 with Hyperthreading and at LEAST 1 Gb of RAM. Keep in mind that Parallels is designed to run mainly on Intel Core ships. If you are going lower then that you really need to pay attention to your system resources. Honestly with the specs in your signature unless you like watching paint dry you should probably go with Windows 2000 or even Windows 98. I found with a P4 2.66 Dual Core (805) CPU, to run XP/Parallels and a few OS X apps (browser, iTunes) I needed a full 3 Gb of RAM for Windows XP to perform well enough that it was actually usable.

Getting to the point of your kernel panic though, you could very well simply be running out of system resources. How much memory have you assigned to the XP virtual machine?
