Raycaster12
My laptop has run smooth for 11 months but the latest Xcode wants a newer OS than 10.13.3 and I'm getting stuck updating. I would try the latest Mojave but it says its not available for my machine. So I have tried even updating to 10.13.6 but after downloading and rebooting it says its updating but always returns 10.13.3. My hackintosh knowledge is low but I'm wondering if the problem is in the reboot target in Clover. When it boots to clover I set to boot from the OS drive but have also tried the Install drive... Clover boot drive options: (MACSSD is my main boot drive) 1) Boot FileVault prebooter from preboot 2) Boot macOS install Prebooter from Preboot 3) Boot macOS Install from MACSSD 4) Boot macOS from MACSSD After it updates with Black screen/Apple Logo and 1/4 progress bar which boot option? Think I've blindly tried them all but maybe it requires 3 - 4 boots? Any help would be very appreciated Notebook: Acer Aspire 7745g Graphics: ATI Mobility Radeon HD5650 + Intel (r) HD Graphics (switchable graphics cards) CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU M 450 @ 2.40GHz Audio: Realtek ALC670 @ Intel Ibex Peak PCH + ATI Radeon HDMI @ ATI Redwood/Madison Wi-Fi: Broadcom BCM43225 802.11b/g/n Wireless Network Adapter Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/337348-newbie-problems-updating-10133-10136/ Share on other sites

Raycaster12
Again, thank you very much for your reply. Looks like it did take the update but now sitting at login screen without keyboard or trackpad use. My wireless mouse works but not able to use keyboard so no login. I had this problem once before when installing 10.13.1 etc. Logged in with an usb keyboard. I assume I have no kexts etc loaded as my gfx also states "display 5M" instead of ATI Radeon... I did back up my EFI stuff. Research time... Raycaster12
Thank you Baio77 as I'm back up and running. Again, a lot of trial and error but the laptop is running 10.13.6 and currently installing the latest Xcode. I have 2 questions (1 for now and 1 for the future) 1)Right now I am required to select GFX_Config under Clover Options and also select the drive option "force installed kexts". Is there a way to save this config as its seems to be needed every reboot? 2) In the future would my laptop be able to install Mojave even if its shown not to be available for my specs? Could I select another config before? Thx again. Baio77
A pleasure to help, I do not think you can go to more recent OS, because in fact the support for your HW ends with 10.13.6 .....
