mickeyd453
I have 10.14.1 installed onto a internal 800GB SSD and this runs fine - i have a data drive thats an internal 2TB SATA HDD and its formatted as Mac OS Extended Journalled. The issue is that although the OS 'sees' the drive it cant read it and actually says its unreadable and so needs to be 'initialized'. If i connect this drive to a USB header it can be read and seen without issue. The board is a GA-P55M-UD2 and the bios is set as per many guides on the internet, and it installs and runs an SSD without issue. Am i missing something kext wise related to an internal SATA HDD even though an APFS SSD runs fine? - bit stuck and lost frankly. Couple of screen shots to help explain my issue. mickeyd453
So more googling led me to the following post This is specific to me as i do have an Intel series 5 SATA controller on this board. What is confusing to me is that this is drive vendor specific as my Intel SSD and all other HDD's that i could test this on worked fine _except_ my WD drives which are my large data drives so for me something specifically related to these drives on this controller. By using the patched AppleAHCIPort.kext i managed to get the machine to recognise these drives and i can use them. I now have a slightly odd issue in that my internal drives show up as external removable drives, which of course they are not, so i need to now work on that. I find it odd that this issue appears so specific to WD drives - i would also like to try and patch this on the fly via clover rather than rolling back a kext. mickeyd453
To close this off - in the end i managed to go back to the unpatched APPLEAHCIPort.kext and via vit9696 patch within clovers 'Kexts to Patch' i managed to get the disk recognized and by adding another small patch i was able to have the internal drives show as internal once more.
