brafik77
The installation hangs/stops with the following messages: "IOUSBHostDevice::getDescriptorGated: compliance violation: USB 2.0 9.3.5: device returned more than wlength data" "Waiting for root device" It does not reach the Apple installation screen/logo (obviously) Not even sure if the above message is the cause of the problem, please check the attached verbose screenshots. The Clover folder is also attached... Hint: The system/laptop (same configuration below) has been able to boot (through an old Chameleon boot-loader) and run in macOS 10.7 but without Sound, Ethernet or WiFi. STLVNUB
It just means your USB is not configured correctly. Waiting for root device means your USB port you were using has been disabled. Trying changing to a different port and it may continue past that screen. Tried all the USB ports of the laptop, but with no luck. Also tried different USB drives from different manufacturers, always the same message/result. STLVNUB
I'd be inclined to install Snow Leopard, shouldn't have USB problem, most things should work.

My purpose is to use Xcode, which has to be upgraded to the latest version, which requires at least a High-Sierra OS X... Could it be something else causing the problem ? I got the same reply on tonymacx86.com, although the system is already running in macOS 10.7 (as mentioned in the hint of the original post). So this is a matter of OS version ? Will I be able to install an older OS version ? Update: I haven't been able to find any information about the compatibility of my GMA45/47 in your apple link. Can you please update the link. Thanks a lot for your help & support...
