nerve
After seeing that a lot of people have problems with the P5B and the 965 chipset in general, i am happy to report that everything is now working perfectly with 10.4.8 on my PC! I have an Asus P5B (non-Deluxe/WiFi) and an MSI 7900GT video card. The CPU is a Core 2 Duo. After applying the Gigabyte and Natit patchers i have QE, network and sound live and kicking... The only caveat is having to specify the root device on boot, but I'm sure I'll figure out that part RSN After all i only just got this installation... Thanks alot JaS, semthex, mifka and the rest! Keep up the excellent work! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/33293-asus-p5b-success/ Share on other sites

Sleep behaves more or less like yours, the difference is when it comes back i get the display back. Seems that power management is totally borked after a trip to never neverland, as the qfan (mobo fan controller) is spinning all fans at full speed and shutdown/restart wont even work. I'm guessing it is setting the wrong state right after going into sleep, but i wont pretend i know how to solve this. Devs? Also, the root device issue is solved. Just leave a disk - any disk - in the DVD drive. Maybe this can help others with the "waiting for root device" syndrome as well.. More investigations in the days to come... Time to play around with WoW (which btw seems to be running fine, but way too fast... guess i need that fsb= afterall... ) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/33293-asus-p5b-success/#findComment-235286 Share on other sites
