Just reporting my setup success......

Hardware:

AMD Sempron 64 2800+

Asus K8N motherboard (Nforce3 250)

Geforce2MX AGP

Realtek 8139 NIC

Install method:

DD'ed the deadmoo image direct onto a spare 6Gb HDD and booted off that (F8 at bios to change boot drive)

Booted up first time to desktop, no errors.

Had to edit com.apple.Boot.plist to enable platform=x86pc and set Graphics Mode at each boot.

Sound is working perfectly after editing the kext.

Network is fine with Realtek card, not onboard Nvidia NIC.

Enabled SSE3 because my CPU supports it and all apps run 100%.

Only software I can't run is MS Office 2004 as it says it needs to be run as administrator (which I am). Don't understand that one.

Zydas wifi USB dongle is recognised by System Profiler as "USB WLAN" but not supported with drivers.

Runs very fast given that it's not optimised for my hardware.

If you are still using deadmoo, you need to look at speedboost:

http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/SpeedBoost

and coregraphics and/or maxxus patch 0.5

If you are setting up a PC primarily for OSX86, I would get a Intel915G/L mobo and Intel SSE3 because that is the only setup right now that is optimized and the only setup that will play a commercial DVD full screen without stutter (using VLC videolan x86 port). It doesn't cost anymore than the AMD setup (don't even need an additional graphics board and lan card).

Look for the $199 PC thread.

The Sempron 64 supports SSE3.

The Sempron 64 supports SSE3.

My point is that only the Intel SSE3/Intel 915G combination gives you QuartzExtreme and CoreImage, which allows the ONLY accelerated graphics on the current OSX86. The AMD/Nvidia/SIS/ATI combination may never be supported. SSE3 is never really a problem, it is an artificial barrier put up by Apple that has been hacked.

If you want to wait for some hacked Nvidia/SIS/ATI drivers to support QE/CI and LAN and SOUND etc- well, don't hold your breath too long.

I know the Intel combo is better supported but that is not what this thread is about. I was simply stating my experience for anyone else who has the same or similar combo of hardware.

hi Litespeed!

are you using the onboard sound on the nforce3?

Yes, I followed the steps at http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/Audio .

Only thing I did different to the steps was the remove the existing IDs and only put in my one. I fugure IO don't need the other IDs anyway.
