I managed to get it working on Catalina by copying the entire patched IO80211Family.kext from my Mojave volume into /System/Library/Extensions, replacing the Catalina kext.

1/ mount your system volume in RW mode through Terminal

sudo mount -uw /
sudo killall Finder

2/ replace Catalina's IO80211Family kext in /S/L/E by High Sierra 10.3.6's or Mojave 10.14.6's (keep a backup of the vanilla kext somewhere). I recommend High Sierra's 10.13.6.

3/ repair permissions and rebuild your cache

sudo chmod -Rf 755 /S*/L*/E*
sudo chown -Rf 0:0 /S*/L*/E*
sudo touch -f /S*/L*/E*
sudo kextcache -i /

 

Then, to run those normally unsupported AR9565 Atheros cards, replace the Atheros40 plugin kext of IO80211Family kext by the patched Atheros40 kext trough the script provided in post #1, i.e. follow the instructions posted there.

 

 

Hey can you share your working IO80211Family kext, I tried to make it work on Catalina but it isn't working.

Hello, I have a WiFi card dw1707 / AR9565, I would like to know how to run bluetooth on this card ??  The card is inserted into the laptop acer v3-371 i5 5257u, Intel iris6100.  The installed system is Catalina, WiFi Works on this card.

Hey @Meowthra, thanks for your amazing work . I am on 10.14.6 your kext works but unfortunately the speed is very slow around 3 mbps down and 4 mbps up. My real connection is around 40mbps down and 8 mbps up. Any thoughts on this ?
