Success: K8NSC-939 (Nforce3 250GB) + Athlon64 3000+ (Venice core)

Problems:

(1) Hard disk activity light always on. (any fix to that?)

(2) CD-ROM drive does not work (any fix?)

Installation:

(1) dd deadmoo's image

(2) removed AppleTPMACPI.kext

(3) patched sse3 patch

(4) fixed audio using guide on this forum

(5) enabled UDMA support using info on this forum

(6) Onboard LAN (Marvel) does not work, used a PCI Airlink card

Can you point me to where you saw the info for enabling UDMA? I have an Asus K8N which runs an Nforce3 250 chipset very similar to the 250GB.

That one is mine

Thanks for your picture, and I appreciate your compliment about my computer as well.

It appears your picture is taken by a digital camera.

My budget is a bit low after building this new computer (K8NSC-939 + Athlon64 3000+)

I am expecting a digital cam as Christmas gift, I might be post picture after 12/25/05.

Have fun

Cougar - I have the exact same mobo as you with a Winchester Athlon64 3000+. I've known of the thread you linked to for two months and tried to fix UDMA - that resulted in kernel panics. In any case, that thread has now become longer and more convoluted than it has ever been. Do you remember what you did to achieve UDMA, or could you point me to the point in the thread where you found the info? If it's too much work for you, forget it; but I'm sick of having to restore/reinstall because of stupid kernel panics.

Cheers,

eli b.

BTW, why would you use the maxxuss sse2 patch, as you have a venice core? or maybe you meant that you undid that patch? I guess, that's the only thing that makes sense.

Well, I tried at least 5 times to make it work, please post what you did in detail.

I might be able to help there.

PS. you are right, I meant "unpatch", since Venice supports SSE3.

Regards,

Cougar
