nylock10
I'm preparing my old Dell computer for Mac OS x86. Here's what I'll be doing, just to make sure it will work: The specifications: Dell Dimention 2400 Intel Pentium 4 @ 2.56GHz (SSE2) 1GB PC2700 RAM PNY GeForce FX5200 128MB Intel i845G chipset w/SoundBlaster (AC'97) audio 48X CD-RW (Main), DVD-ROM (Slave) - I'm having trouble booting off the DVD, so I might use VMWare 74GB 7200RPM HD The software Mac OS X 10.4.6 JaS Mac OS X 10.4.7 JaS (update) Mac OS X 10.4.8 SSE2 (update) Partition Magic v8.0 Hiren's Boot CD 8.X (just in case) VMWare 5.X (if DVD doesn't boot) The steps: 1: Backup pictures and music to iMac (via Windows File Sharing in OSX) 2: Format the Hard Drive & install Windows XP Home Edition w/SP2 3: Install Partition Magic v8.0 & partition giving Windows 54GB and Mac OS x86 20GB 4: Install Mac OS x86 with this guide 5: Install updates (10.4.7 & 10.4.8) 6: Install Titan.kext 7: Install iWork '06 (from the Intel iMac I have) How does that sound? I've done 10.4.1 installations multiple times so I am fimilar with OSx86. I'm also fimiliar with installing operating systems, formatting, partitioning etc. Everything should go smooth. In my earlier 10.4.1 installations, I have gotten "Error Loading Operating System". If this happens, can I use Hiren's Boot CD to fix the problem?
