Screen Saver on 10.12.6 keeps freezing / locking up system and I have to force restart

I am running macOS 10.12.6; when the screen saver loads my system freezes / locks up, and I have to do a force restart. The screen saver doesn't move and I can't even ping the system using a different system. It's completely locked up. I disabled the screen saver and let my system run for 24 hours with the console open and I didn't get any errors.

Has anyone else encountered this issue?

Did you check bios power settiings? I choose wake from USB device, or keyboard any key and my 3 hackintosh work in 12.6. If keyboard is PS2 you can choose that option in bios for most boards as well.

I will check when I get home.

Thanks!

I actually have had this same issue on a real mac, my white macbook, though after reinstalling OSX it was fixed

The software is around 5gb that's a lot of data it does get corrupted, most often by our own doing, lol.

Yeah so that may just be the issue, not sure though sorry!

It could be, but his system does work as long as it doesn't sleep or screen save. There are a few configuration variables, like power management, bios settings, Bluetooth or USB fixes, Clover Drivers64EFI (EMUVariable, OSXAptiofixdrv, OSXAptiofixdrv2, etc..) that could be causing the issue. Not to mention DSDT fixes or a lack of. Hackintosh is like a golf swing there are literally 1000s of things that can go wrong in a short period of time.

What are your system specs? Can you put them in your signature line?

Do you have a graphics card?

Intel i5-6500

GA-Z170X-UD5

RX 480

I still have this issue if I use the iGPU.

I have the same setup Can you post your config.plist. Remove serial number if you want.

Are bios settings like this?

SuperIO or Serial port =disabled

CFG Lock =disabled (In CPU settings )

XHCI Handoff =enabled

XMP =enabled

What happens if you put your computer to sleep? is it more the sleep causing it to freeze rather than the screensaver?

Sleep actually works since I am not using the iGPU.  Oddly enough, when I wake up my system the Ethernet doesn't work.
