Rammjet
ayye! that deleted my sound drivers! it booted into safemode, how do i get it out of safe mode? You weren't really supposed to add all of those things to the Kernel Flags (but I knew you would). It was just an example of how to add many different boot flags to the Kernel Flags parameter. To get rid of Safe Mode, remove the -x from the Kernel Flags. Jagojon3
If you have dual cores, setting cpus=2 is unnecessary because the OS will try to use both cores. But if the OS has problems when it uses both cores, then you need to tell it to use only one of them via cpus=1. You can use cpus=2, but as I said, it really is superfluous. Click on the boot.plist icon on the Desktop. Hit your Enter key. Remove the .txt suffix. OSX will ask if you really want to do that. Select the plist suffix in the dialog. I have done exactly that, when I delete the .txt suffix it just adds it back in, no menu pops up asking me if I really want to do that. Jagojon3
What does "fsb=166 fn=3" do? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/32616-how-to-use-the-applebootplist-to-set-1-cpu-at-startup/page/2/#findComment-230501 Share on other sites
arsenalsam7
fsb=166 is my front side bus fn=3 i am not sure, i just remember itbeing one of the flags for an sse3 cpu what cpu are you using for osx? i found this while googling up fn=3, this is from an older post from this board, courtesy of Wesley QUOTE "fn" stands for "forcenap" and provides different implementions for handling CPU idle time with the goal of CPU heat/fan control. It's modifying the CPU idle characteristics, not just the fan, so I think we might be onto something here. Jagojon3
I FINALLY GOT IT WORKING CORRECTLY! The only flag that I need to set it cpus=1, the boot file had only the -v flag in it, and that caused the computer to lock up upon boot. The only other slight problem is that I can't get rid of the startup animation. If I change the flag from "Yes" to "No", the computer didn't even boot up and I had to reinstall OS X. Oh well. Any way of having both cores enabled and having it run smoothly? I miss my other core Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/32616-how-to-use-the-applebootplist-to-set-1-cpu-at-startup/page/2/#findComment-230691 Share on other sites
