reno55
I currently have a machine running Xp on my main boot drive I made some room and now have a 120gb drive that is empty. I want to install osx86 to it. Could I do it nativley just from boot up and have it dual boot? I do not want to use acronis as I hate it. I have read through all the guides and what not and they all seem to speak to only partitions not entire drives. ForumSnoBorderRK
no you should use acronis, if you dont use that, you have to do an even more complicated procedure with VMware. but i dont understand, the osx native dual boot forum topic shows you how to do it and its so easy. whats the problem there? Just follow the directions step by step to get yourself osx on one of your partitions that YOU REFORMATTED with Fat 32 primary. In your case, since you have 120gb of an empty drive, if its unallocated, go through partition magic and make it 120gb fat 32 primary and make it into a partition. If the 120gb you have free is already ON an empty fat 32 primary partition, then you're already set to go. Alessandro17
I do advise that you install OS X to a separate HD. The risk that you destroy your WinXP install is high, in my opinion, unless you don't care. An HD is dirty cheap these days. Guest bikedude880
If you can pull up a BIOS boot menu, you can dual boot without Acronis or any other POS boot loader (except GRUB, GRUB is good ) I'm dual booting 2 OS X disks and all I've ever needed was the BIOS boot loader.
