  1. so can anybody help me with my existing problem? I am actually trying to install once more with maybe a kernel and a new bootloader. Can anybody quickly suggest a kernal / driver / patch I should use? I am standing by until 5:30pm pacific time. Anything helps honestly. take a look at my specs above. ok well i tried installing with the voodoo 10.5.4 kernel and the alternate bootloader by chameleon. I will let you all know if this works. Nevertheless, any knowledge / advice / help you can give me is greatly appreciated still.
  2. Yes, exactly. What you said in your post lead me to use a different tool other than systemrescue. No I did not get it working unfortunately. But heres the thing now, this only gave me a new problem.... the os installs successfully, and asks to restart. when it restarts, i try to load it using verbose mode, and normal mode, and it keeps restarting bring me back to the computer start up screen. It just repeats this process. I am not sure what I am doing wrong now. its lame because i was excited to have it working finally, until it lead me to another problem. Is there a certain driver or patch i did not include before installation? im running on a dell xps 400 pentium D (dual core) (i checked off ATi for Video card drivers) video: ATi Hyper Memory PCI Express X16 (DVI/VGA/TV out) Radeon X300 SE video: ATi Radeon X600 256MB HYPERMEMORY audio: Sigmatel stac 92XX C-Major HD Audio if you (or anybody else) have any idea, by all means let me know. i really am eager to have this up and running and you've helped me out a lot so far. thanks again for your time. has anybody heard of this situation before?
  3. ok, so rod, (and everybody else that has ever had the same problem as me) i decided to go more indepth and try to search how to create hfs+ inside of windows, instead of using mac os x utilities. i didnt know what was causing my problem (I was unable to erase the disk into mac os journaled extended) so i figured it had to have been because of one my steps in the earlier stages of this process. so this is the solution that fixed my problem, in windows, i formatted the drive to FAT32 using Acronis Disk Director. For some reason, mac os x just did not want to read this, because it was formatted a weird way i suppose. So i found this thread, where venum posted the solution. I formatted the drive in fat32, but then i went in and edited the drive and changed it to ShagOS (swap). Then i booted up mac os x, and tried formatting the drive to mac os extended journaled again, and it automatically mounted; and i was able to install. thanks again rod! hope this helps anybody who had the same problem!
  4. Format HFS+ Partition In Windows XP

wow venum! this actually worked i cant believe it. Finally! Thanks for this thread guys. huge help. searching ftw
  5. so i downloaded the final build of systemrescuecd, which was labeled SystemRescueCd-x86-1.3.0 and burned the image to a cd. when i tried to boot it (from boot start screen) it wouldnt work / was not recognized. dont know what the problem there was. it just couldnt boot it. any advice rod?
  6. i am definitely going to try this right now. thanks for your help rod. if there are any other alternative ways of going about this, please let me know guys, because im not all that sure this is going to work. if you've heard about this problem, by all means post any of your knowledge. Anything and everything is really appreciated.
  7. can anybody help me with my situation? (back up)
  8. bump.. anything will help honestly.
  11. need help getting started...

hey guys, i hope you guys will hold the flaming for this one, but keep in mind i have tried searching and tried doing everything I can before I posted this thread. i used to be in this "scene" (for a lack of a better word) and had os x tiger installed on my dell xps 400. My problem is, the only thing I remember doing was setting up a new partition and making sure the formatting on that drive was correct and compatible to os x tiger. this was years ago (as you can see by my join date to this forum) if someone can possibly point me in the right direction on getting started, that would be awesome. I mean ive searched this forum, ive searched throughout osxproject wiki, everything is just different now since the last time I was here and for some reason everything to me is just blurry from years ago. What I am aiming for is dual booting windows vista ultimate along with os x snow leopard (or just leopard if thats the most up-to-date i can go. thanks in advance everybody, i definitely will try to forward this information to others who ask this type of question. here are some quick specs: - dell xps 400 - core duo 2.80GHz - 1gb ram (yeah I know its low but it's minimum and it should be okay for me for now at least) - currently running windows vista ultimate
  12. Snow Leopard Now Permitted

great! now i just have to double my researching to try to get this working some how.
  13. INTEL 10.4.8 USB, AUDIO(ONBOARD) PROBLEM

you know its the weirdest thing. i had a dell xps, and my speakers were plugged to the back, so i plugged them into the headphone jack, and they worked. try plugging headphones in see if it even works.
  14. [[[PARTIALLY SOLVED]]] output problem created...?

oh, of course they are powered by AC. Its two speakers with a sub. Logitech identical to these:
  15. [[[PARTIALLY SOLVED]]] output problem created...?

thats the weirdest thing... okay so it works... but only from my headphones... so it has to do somethign with my speakers??? heres what happens, my logitech speakers are plugged in to the back of the system, where they are supposed to be plugged in (green plug). so i plugged in my headphones to the front of my pc (usually for headphone use only) and it came out from my headphones... so i decided to take the green plug out from the back of my pc, and put it into the headphones plug in the front of the pc, and its working....??? thats weird.. is there anyway i can just plug my speakers into the green plugin in the back instead of plugging it into the front and STILL make the sound work correctly??
