casemon
Haven't been here in a few months as I have since bought a new macbook pro (largely due to OSX86, go figure!) but i have an old PC that I'd like to use as a media server with OS X. The problem is that the last time I checked OSX86, the ALC850 audio chipsets did not support digital or optical out (i followed the guides that were current at the time). Is this still the case? After several months, anyone get digital or optical out working with an ALC850 chipsets? I did a search but didn't find anything specific, so I thought I'd ask here. Mobo is an Asus A8N-E, if it helps.

casemon
Ahh that's too bad. Hopefully one of us will figure it out. It's frustrating tho, I'm almost at the point of just buying a new audio card but would really rather spend that money towards getting a new iMac (won't be for a while). Do you have a link to your forum post? In case I find a solution, I can let you know.
