Amilo Pa 1510 installation

This SHOULD be a guide to get 10.4.6 on fujitsu siemens Amilo Pa 1510.

It's still on progress but i hope it can help

I'm testing uphuck v. 1.3 of osx86 10.4.9. I will update this guide in a few days...

BASIC SYSTEM INSTALLATION

OK, so here it is, this is what i did a step by step:

1) get 10.4.6 JaS DVD

2) partition your physical hard drive (in my case i first partioned my hd with partition magic, and reserved 20 GB in primary partition number 2). DON'T use logical partition as i read it won't work!

3) create a virtual machine in vmware which uses your physical hard drive

4) install os x with JaS DVD in the virtual machine on the physical drive (during installation select "ad hoc install" and check all AMD patches but SSE3, since SSE3 is not working/recognized) + wireless support

5) be sure that you can boot your partition (i used thewindows xp chain0 method, you can find info on this approach searching the forum)

6) start os x in virtual machine.

7) Now the sata recognition part: Open Applications > Utilities > Terminal

8) type the following (if you don't know how to use vi check some guide on the web :) ) :

sudo su:

vi /System/Library/Extensions/AppleVIAATA.kext/Contents/Info.plist

9) in the VIA SATA Controller section, edit the line under IOPCIPrimaryMatch adding the ATI sata controller id 0x43791002

line change from this:

<string>0x31491106 0x00e310de 0x005510de</string>

to this:

<string>0x43791002 0x31491106 0x00e310de 0x005510de</string>

10) save the file and quit vi, then type this:

rm /System/Library/Extensions.mkext

rm /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache

11) shutdown os x in the virtual machine

12) now you can start os x in native mode.

IMPORTANT:

13) to avoid stutter problems edit /Library/Preferences/com.apple.Boot.plist the line under "<key>Kernel Flags</key>" like this:

<string>-v -f platform=ACPI idlehalt=0</string>

This is the solution for the onboard Realtek 8139:

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=38223

And the wireless card (broadcom 4318) should work if you follow this guide

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=8522

(you should not need to add the line in the Info.plist as it should already be present, just pay attention to en0/en1 part)

Download omni's "Callisto b003 fixed" drivers to get your radeon express 1100 graphic card working @ 1280x800

Put the 2 kext in /System/Library/Extensions directory with the right ownership (root:wheel) then you need to set this device id: 0x59751002 in this file: CallistoHAL.kext/Contents/Info.plist

No CI/QE support, but this is good enough for me.

DVD ACCESS

-download Zappadoc's ATI IXP driver to get the PATA controller for dvd working (find info/stuff herehttp://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=9847)

sound is working somehow, you need to patch the azalia kext (search the forum) with the vendor and device id (vendor: 10ec - device:0861).

that enables output but i'm still not able to change any setting (audio card is not seen in system profiler).

as for the ethernet card, that's driving me crazy: en0 is somehow listed in the hardware but appears disabled in Network Preferences (only shown in network ports, not in network status). I guess it has something to do with dependecies from other extensions (see AppleRTL8139 under Extensions in System Profiler)

:thumbsup_anim:

let me know if you find a solution

Sorry, I cant try...

how about pcmcia? is it working? or the card reader?

I know that this topic is quite old, but I think my problems match here best:

1. I'm not able to install Callisto drivers on my Amilo 1510. I'm following the installation guide step by step, but after rebooting I can't choose my 1280x800 resolution.

2. How do I manage it that Mac conects to my favourite WLAN automatically after starting?

I don't have just questions, but also solutions:

The realtek audio works perfectly with Azalia Audio!

I've got 10.4.8.

  • 1 year later...

I've a FSC Amilo PA-1510 and just succesfully installed iDeneb Version 10.5.5.

The install process takes about 1 hour. The first boot is awfully long, I've waited for about 15 minutes to startup.

As it's a fresh install I've still to get everything working besides Ethernet.

I will post my progress in this thread and I hope anyone else can also contribute. Actually I still can't believe that so few people own that POS laptop :)

Well... Kalaway 10.5.2 didn't work for me either.

With iDeneb 10.5.5 it's working - but it needs heavy tweaking.

The install options I chosen:

[X] AMD Patch

[X] Kernel -> [X] StageXNU

[X] Chipset -> [X] VIA -- SB

[X] Network -> [X] Wireless -> [X] Atheros WiFi Adapter

[X] Fix -> [X] Power management

Make sure not to enable anything in the Gfx section.

The system isn't quite useable after the direct install as I already mentioned, the boot process takes at least 5 minutes, shutdown and restart works though. Haven't tried sleep yet.

The resolution is bound to 1024x768 but using this thread you can probably sort it out. (Callisto fixed drivers).

The dvd drive isn't being recognized either.

What does work ootb is Ethernet :angel:

what size does your harddisk has type

or you have a dual boot with Windows XP

Well yes, I didn't have any freezes at all. The biggest problem with this laptop, mac os x is just freaking slow (at least for me) I gave up trying to tweak it and went with ubuntu ;) Let's face the truth, FSC Amilo with AMD cpu's just isn't made for MacOSX.

Hell, even my PowerMac G3 B&W is a lot faster.
