Hi, i've tried searching for 2 days on this topic, but couldn't really find anything.

I have an Asus P5b-Deluxe with an e6300 1.86ghz core duo 2.

I know about the XP, OS X time sync issue, but im not talking about that.

I'm talkin about when i go into the system clock, each second is more like half a second, as in time "flies by" faster in OS X than it does. Can someone shed some light on this?

... and please, don't be condescending as I am a computer engineer, but this is my first os x installation.

thanks in advance :(

Remember to set fsb at boot or in boot.plist

fsb=xxx (where xxx is a number like 133, 166 or 200)

fsb is a frequency

fsb (freq) = fsb (speed) / 4

(OSX) System Profiler -> Hardware -> Bus Speed (fsb speed)

(Win) PC Wizard -> Mainboard -> Chipset -> freq and speed avail

At boot prompt, type: fsb=xxx

or add fsb=xxx to Kernel Flags in boot.plist

just to get this clear, after pressing F8 at the bootloader, I type 'fsb = 266' and then hit enter? Is there anything more to it than this? I did this and I still have a fast clock. Is this only in the semthex kernel? I don't remember having this problem in 10.4.6.

What apps you run does seem to change the amount of time "gained". For example on a day where I do nothing but web surf I may only gain about 3 minutes. If I run Parallels, I might gain 5 or 6. If I run Parallels and World of Warcraft (which I can do at the same time amazingly well - Windows {censored} slap heard in the distance) then I will gain around 10 minutes.

Apps like mencoder, visualhub (x264 encoding), yes command in terminal, Spotlight on NTFS volumes, etc. If you set time by time server and check in SysPref Date Time, in console log can you see entries like this :

just one comment - fsb is not exactly 133 or 200,

it's smtng like 133.1 or 199.98

and i know only one kernel with FSB autodetect, which work great for me/

DaemonES mach_kernel

you can download it here

http://www.applelife.ru/developer/

with mifki kernel and manually setting fsb in boot.plist i get over 2 minutes difference through every 24h
