Thegn
Hi, I'm new to the forum, so please bare with me :-) First I want to thank everyone that have contributed to everything here! And I guess it counts to everyone :-) So, to go to the topic. The first 10.4.8 DVD had it's pro's and con's, the second is here to stay because it is the best! :-) But, could someone post a changelog so we can see the differences between them? Why, someone might ask. Well, many had success with the first DVD, with slight changes, as booting with the .7 to make changes to the partition table etc... I just think that it's a good thing to bring it with a release, at least the major changes, so everyone knows if it is worth to reformat or just upgrade. I followed an upgrade path from .7 to .8 at a link here at the forums, with very few steps, and everything seems to work great with the new kernel! Thank's! But nevertheless, the question that nags me is if the new DVD would be better to install than these few steps I did... What have changed???? Thanks again, to everyone here! Guest bikedude880
Major Change: DVD boots using old 10.4.4 restore disk (same as every other release)
Thegn
Thank's bikedude880 for answering! So, every release now is based on the .4? Ok. I'll check the Wiki later :-) From my lookings here, not much have changed from the DVD:s, other than automated installations of some hardware, am I right? It's a good thing! :-) Thanks, Have a nice holiday, everyone!
bardx86
The kernal is new not the .4 kernal, which is the major difference.
Thegn
Yes, the Kernel is new, I understand that, I'm already running the new one. I wonder what the differences between the first (faulty?!?) 10.4.8 DVD is and the New Brilliant One (The Second 10.4.8 DVD is!!! :-) ) Besides the fixes already announed? I see many people here that don't make a difference between them, many could avoid the new DVD by just make a few kext adjustments etc.... With a quick changelog might could be a bit easier for people to upgrade, and it would spare a lot of questions on the forum for the developers??? Cheers,
xtraa
The difference is: Second DVD was an 10.4.4 dmg, attached -readwrite, and copied all the files from the old dvd into it, plus some adjustments. Thats what I read between the lines.
