t4ggs
Hi. I have a Abit AA8XE motherboard and a Intel 3 Ghz 64 bit processor. I'm running win xp 32 bit edition and i want to run mac os x86, i got a copy and installed it with no problem in my brother pc (Abit AA8 Mobo and intel 3ghz 32bit) but when I insert the CD in my pc and restart...after it says loading darwin..that's what i get: bash-2.05a- And a blank (black) screen. Any help would really help me. Thanx
lord_muad_dib
do not double post please if you managed to run win XP32 bit, your cpu is not an IA64 for sure... google the forum for tons of guides around
mifki
Your CPU isnt IA-64, its IA-32 with x64 extensions not native IA-64 (only itaniums have that i think)
munky
Kiko is correct - IA-64 was Intel's all-but-abortive attempt to create a 64-bit platform for the future. It was slow, it was not backwards-compatible, and basically it sucked. You DONT have an IA-64 chip, as 32-bit WinXP does not run on Itanium (the only available IA-64 bit chip). Hence you have a perfectly normal 32-bit-with-64-bit-extensions intel chip, and should be able to run osx86 fine.
