Simple questions needs a simple answers

ppf are patch files (if I remember right they once were made for playstation).

 

If you have a large file, let's call it original.iso and then for some reasons you have

another updated file called original_modded.iso, and you want to get it to the public

then you have two choices:

 

1. upload both files.

 

Since most files in the above .iso files are staying the same, it is very uncomftable to

upload all the stuff again just for a few files that changed.

 

thats why you make

 

2. The ppf-patch: Take the first file, take te second file, and subtract them from each other with the ppf tool.

 

Then you just have to upload the difference, not everything.

 

So ppf is like a solver for one of these "Find the difference" games, where you have to compare two pictures.
