MacFeast
I tried to install the "JaS.10.4.8.Intel.SSE3.Only.Install.DVD" release on my computer but I haven't succeeded so far. Booting the dvd gets me the "boot.plist not found" error, so I tried VMWare. In this mode I can avoid that error if I press F8. However, just after the screen switches, I get: *** Virtual machine kernel stack fault (hardware reset) *** The virtual machine just suffered a stack fault... I tried a number of VMWare configurations, including some suggested here on the forum. If I don't select FreeBSD 64, VMWare also complains about a 64-bit OS running in a 32-bit virtual machine. Then the familiar stack fault. My HW: Asus P5B Deluxe Intel Core2 Duo E6600 3GB memory (Corsair PC2-6400) Graphics: ATI x1600 PCI-X Here is my cpu-z output: (and yes, I did try the standard clocking. No change.) Anyone with similar HW that got it to work? If so, how? EDIT: I Forgot, my VMWare version is 5.5.2 build 29772 I also tried VMWare Player 1.0.2 build-29772. It just hangs at the same spot (I guess they just removed the dialog or something)
nobek
10.4.8 works (kind of) on P5B Deluxe. Kind of, because IDE, SATA, Ethernet and audio do not work :-( I managed to install it using a DVD connected via an IDE-to-USB adapter. I installed it on an external USB2.0 HDD. Also, the PC does not boot from this drive afterwards, it is necessary to boot it from Jas DVD, press F8 and enter at the prompt: boot: rd=disk0s1 After that it boots from the USB drive. I fixed the lack of audio by attaching an external USB audio adapter. Also I noticed some problems with moving windows and scrolling inside windows (GF 7600GS). The lack of network is more disturbing, though... Well, anyone has more success, please let us know :-)
nobek
OK, network is working (only one of the adapters), thanks to Musashi's driver: My system: Asus P5B Deluxe, Core 2 Duo E6600, 2GB RAM, ASUS GF 7600GS
