i've already setup Jas 10.4.8 DVD 4 times~~

1 & 2. ~~Both kernel ver. run fine @ boot from DVD>HD >_<

3. Erase disk from other 10.4.8(Jas 10.4.6ppf1 > Jas 10.4.8 pkg), setup again .... same can't boot form HD

4. At last, i use my work fine OSX disc (JAS 10.4.6 ppf1) boot up & erase the drive

then boot the new JAS 10.4.8 DVD finish setup.... press...press...

finally, i can start my OSX from HD normally without DVD ^^

update~~ i find out the diskutil different Jas 10.4.6 ppf1 DVD & Jas 10.4.8 DVD

is:

10.4.6 ppf1 used the 10.4.4 diskutil (ver. is 10.5.4) (10.4.6 ppf1 DVD is base on 10.4.4 system + 10.4.6 updater)

10.4.8 DVD used 10.4.8 diskutil (ver. is 10.5.8) (10.4.8 DVD all base on 10.4.8 system)

if anyone have 2 OSX, he can copy the diskutil from 10.4.4DVD to HD, use the 10.4.4 diskutil to erase ~~~

P.S.

Don't use the disk utility come from 10.4.8

i think the diskutil come from 10.4.8 DVD(or other 10.4.8) is crash the drive boot record,

this solution i'm not sure is work for everyone~~~

my setup target is a ATA HD @ 1 partition~~~

dont understand what u r saying,i have did 3 installs of new jas dvd and each time i get at restart

ERROR LOADING OPERATING SYSTEM

so you are saying use jas 10.4.6 to erase the drive using its drive utility and then run the new jas 10.4.8 and choose drive bypassing the need to use its disk utility

worked for me to solve the blinking cursor boot problem.

booted into 10.4.6 jas dvd, used disk utility to redo the partitions (wanted to create a backup partition) and then erased each partition with HFS+ journaled.

rebooted using 10.4.8 jas dvd, installed, rebooted without dvd and it went right into the new install.

now trying to get graphics, etc. working.

hi. I successfully can boot 10.4.8 from hd with this trick and so THANK YOU!!! I'm running 10.4.8 in native mode but discovered today the dvd iso has many bugs! For now I try to fix knows bugs but I hope all we must not discard the first dvd release from jas, even if another reseed has started.

Bye.

if you just erase the partitions it won't work. You have to actually recreate the partition using the 10.4.6 or 10.4.7 dvd's If all you do is erase the partition and it doesn't affect the boot record from the messed up 10.4.8 installs. You have to wipe out the partitions and recreate them in the partition area. That worked for me.
