sld87
Hi guys, I've even had to restart a few times due to this, but i'm basically not running anything at all and here are my stats. Is it normal for tabs in safari to be 300-500mb each too? Anything i can do?
Badruzeus
I think, It depends on what mac's features activated there. With enabled background services eg. iCloud, Spotlight, Mail (memory hogs issue since 10.10), too much Extensions on PrefPane, Internet Accounts Sync, Active Screensaver, Apps auto update, etc.. could consume more RAM and also high kernel_task on our machine. But, we can try this to fix the issue: (DWYOR) ## Find the model (example) $ system_profiler -detailLevel mini | grep "Model Identifier:" Model Identifier: MacBookPro8,2 # Move and backup the file $ cd /System/Library/Extensions/IOPlatformPluginFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin.kext/Contents/Resources $ sudo mv MacBookPro8_2.plist MacBookPro8_2.bak ... then reboot ur machine. Orion's Sword
Interesting.. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Me too. kernel_task seems to take more memory. I think other faced this issue too, but they didn't look at the activity monitor to notice this.
