I get even a more distruving error using Linux

The setup is like this:

80gb HDD partitioned in

hda1 windwos ntfs 15gb

hda5 windows ntfs 37gb

hda6 mac os x 10.2gb

hda7 linux ReiserFS 10.2gb

hda8 linux swap 1gb

The entries in grubs men.lst are correct, I can perfectly boot Ubuntu 5.04 and Windows XP Pro but when I select to boot Mac OS X Grub says:

Error

Error loading booter

and thats it.

Now I was wondering, does OS X have to be installed on a primary or a logical partition and do I need to set the bootflag to OSX or can I just leave it with Windows XP?

I have come accross all of these probs, both solved by using cfdisk (Gentoo minimal live CD) to change the type of the partition to AF and then re-dd and try again. Thats how i got mine... it works great... so fast! ;)

The second one is that GRUB isnt installed properly make sure you have put GRUB in C:\BOOT and run grubinstall.exe and that the menu.lst is in the directory and not corrupt

I used cfdisk but under Knoppix (ver3.3)

And Grub is correctly installed for me as I can perfectl boot the othe two OS'es but can't boot OS X

So, what would you suggest now??

I am facing the exact same error. Maybe this has someting to do with logical partitions. I had initially tried this with a 40 GB primary partition, and I could boot in. Rather than waste 33 GB, I decided to repartition into a 7 GB and a 33 GB partition (both logical) and retried. This time, I am getting errors. And, fdisk (I never got around to using cfdisk) shows partition type to be 'af'.

Well njudging from what you say the problem is that I installed OS X on a logical and not on a primary partition, I'm ghonna vhe a go at that this afternoon, I hope this will fix it, been waiting for so long to get OS X, not gonna give up now...

Well,I tried back with primary partitions, and sure enough, it worked. So it is safe to say that logical partitions will *not* work
