Usloter
Hardware: HP Pavilion DV7 6b21sm HD3000-1600x900, HM65, i7-2670QM, wifi-BCM94322HM8L, bluetooth-USB Gmyle BCM20702A3, BIOS F.02: OS X 10.10.5/Win10 CLOVER-Legacy Problem only on EL CAPITAN !!! I have build Yosemite 10.10.5 which works just fine all mac functions works handoff, continuity, airdrop, ..... but on El Capitan 10.11.5 I have problem with freeze!!! Hardware is the same. Problem (different situations): 1. when I drag maximise window on desktop horizontally that touched with menu bar no freeze. 2. when I drag maximise window on desktop vertically but quick from menu bar to down about 3/4 bottom desktop and back to menu bar(can repeat this and no freeze) no freeze. 3. when minimise window to about 80x80mm In this situation I can move window without problem (slow or fast) no freeze. 4. when I repeat process like in 2. but this time slowly freeze happened (depend how fast I drag) sometimes in 85% computer freeze that I must hard shut down to press power button 4sec. 5. in safari sometimes when I download some app or file ... bubble animation starts when download started and freeze in the middle sometimes in 85% computer freeze that I must hard shut down to press power button 4sec. Here I can interrupt this animation and freeze if I open app or start some other operation immediately after download starts !!! My Theories what cause this problem: 1. Open GL not working (I don't know how to look and find in AppleIntelSNBGraphicsFB.kext and maybe is in other kext? 2. Dead zone around menu bar. (this so called dead zone is around 5mm-10mm below menubar. Here freeze appear! 3. Usb drivers or usb patches in dsdt cause this problem? Maybe. 4. Resolution problem Apple not support 1600x900 in HD3000 mobile. (how to fix no clue!!!) 5. Backlight patch. I'm 99% sure that this is the problem!!! 5. maybe nothing above theories are true but I believe that is fixable! What I try so far: - I change DMVT-prealloc set to 64mb in bios but nothing change. - I change vram from 512MB to 1024MB and nothing change. - I tried patch dsdt and ssdt form clover and linux dump. and nothing change. What to do: - I ll like to create new kext for blacklight but I don't have knowledge to do that. - If is something to do with frame buffers I search some guide how to do. but now luck. That it I hope someone know solution or time me direction how to solve this problem. 1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/313435-el-capitan-freeze-problem-vs-yosemite-fully-operational-laptop/ Share on other sites
vusun123
That is something happened on many laptops with HD3000. Tluck from the T420 guide said that using CsrActiveConfig 0x43 fix the problem but I think it doesn't applied to all laptops with the same problem 1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/313435-el-capitan-freeze-problem-vs-yosemite-fully-operational-laptop/#findComment-2255562 Share on other sites
tluck
yup i had a similar challenge that snuck in the 10.11.3 to 11.11.4 timeframe. the issue fix was a simply to change the SIP setting to add NVRAM access. in my case, i was seeing the dreaded BRSYNC hangs in the system.log file. i think i was using SIP (csr-active-setting) in clover originally set to 0x3 - so I set 0x43 and all was fine again. of course 0x67 (complete disable of SIP)may be better. Thx . If I understand right I must change my config.plist. Under Rt Variables I change CrsActiveConfig from 0x67 to 0x43 and that it? I have now set to 0x67. Can you explain what this change does ? What about display vendor id (overrides) ? Must I change there something? I read your Guide Lenovo ThinkPad T420 with UEFI Only That it is possible to override display. "DisplayOverride files to add full HD (1920x1080) option for 1600x900 screens." Can you tell me how exactly I must do this and what is purpose of this? Thanks.
