haroldj97
I have successfully managed to install El Capitan with Clover on a Compaq Presario SR500 desktop with a Core 2 Duo E6550, 6GB DDR2 RAM and a generic Asus motherboard. Since the integrated graphics isn't supported and was too much of a hassle to attempt to get it working, I purchased an Asus Silent 210 graphics card. This works perfectly, I only had to inject Nvidia in Clover Configurator and I am able to run at 1080p. However when looking in about this Mac it is recognised as a PNY 8400GS 1GB. Not that it matters, I was just wondering why it was showing this?. Originally this computer did come with an Asus 8400GS which died years ago not sure if that matters. spakk
may be used an old DSDT with the old graphics inject? ... but if it bothers you, then you can easily change this cosmetic info. see here: Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/311250-wrong-graphics-card-shown-in-about-this-mac/#findComment-2220686 Share on other sites
haroldj97
Well, that's just a totally artificial kinda "cheat" for pure cosmetic reasons. To me, it's like putting a Ferrari logo on your Ford... Personally, I'd opt for a more genuine modification, i.e. a proper DSDT injection. Using IORegistryExplorer, identify the device under which your graphics card registers, note the characteristics as displayed in the right part of the app, then inject this in your DSDT. Not only will your hardware be true and genuinely be reported in "About This Mac" and in your SysProfiler, you may also gain in performance in having the right hardware specs injected (though they may work OOB). Post your saved IOReg output + DSDT and we can look at patching the table for you. I have downloaded IORegidtryExplorer but I'm not too sure what to do with it. I have saved a copy but don't how useful it is or what to do with it? haroldj97
Erm... you run IORegistryExplorer and you simply save the output somewhere on your Hack. Then, compress the file and post it here. Do the same to post your DSDT (i.e. compress it before posting it). Wasn't this clear enough? Sorry didn't read your post properly. I have attached the files to this post, hope these are the right files. Thanks for your help Output.zip config.plist.zip Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/311250-wrong-graphics-card-shown-in-about-this-mac/#findComment-2221009 Share on other sites
haroldj97
You've posted your saved IOReg alright, but why did you post your Clover config file instead of your DSDT? Ok, it needs to be adjusted because incorrectly configured, but... Sorry to be a pain again. I very new to this and not too sure where to find the DSDT file. I thought it would be in the EFI partition but I can't see to find any files in there relating to DSDT? haroldj97
If you're using an existing patched DSDT, you'l find it in the EFI/CLOVER/ACPI/patched folder of your EFI partition. If you don't have any, there are various ways to extract it: 1) you can extract them from BIOS through Clover by pressing F4 at the Clover main menu 2) from OS X, you can extract it through tools such as Chameleon Wizard, DSDTEditor, MacIASL, etc. Think I have finally managed to get my DSDT dsdt.aml.zip Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/311250-wrong-graphics-card-shown-in-about-this-mac/#findComment-2221314 Share on other sites
haroldj97
I know its cosmetic but just wondering if it is possible to patch my DSDT so that the right graphics card is shown?
