Hi folks. If someone (like me) likes to have Mac Pro 5.1 instead of 3.1in SMBIOS this can be a solution to achieve more speedsteps. When you choose Mac Pro 5.1 you have only 2 Cpu  speedsteps while 3.1 definition has more, but it's older (Mac Pro 2008) so if you want for some reason a "Mac Pro 2010" definition you have to choose 5.1 but your Cpu will run 2 p-states only :-(

Here's my solution to have all Cpu p-states of 3.1 in 5.1 by installing the attached modified kext for El Capitan only, DON'T use in previous OS X releases.

1) Backup your working system (and I mean DO IT) before trying this

2) Download the attached kext and unzip it on your desktop

3) Use Kext Wizard and install the kext into your El Capitan startup disk>System>Library>Extensions

4) Change your SMBIOS to Mac Pro 5.1 if you didn't yet

5) Rebuild system cache (Kext Wizard can do rebuilding as well)

6) Restart your Hackintosh

Look at frequency sensors (I use Hardware Monitor) on top Finder menu bar and you should see several speed steps.

Again backup your working system before trying this mod, what worked on my machine could not work on yours, although I've tested it on 3 different machines without issues at all.

That's all, I hope you'll like it.
