Careless
Hi everyone, I managed to create a Clover Legacy UEFI bootloader USB key with a patched DSDT and SSDT. It seems to be running just fine right now (as I am typing this). On the actual system volume, I am booting with Chameleon, so I am using the USB to test. I have the system running on a 2302 Patched Bios, and power management seems to be working as far as the Intel Power Gadget is showing me. Essentially, everything is working except for audio (no need, I have a wireless USB headset I use for that anyways). I am having trouble trying to get it to work with just a UEFI bootloader, and not a legacy one. I would like to go to full UEFI mode if possible to streamline future updates and whatnot, and just to generally have a cleaner more vanilla install of the entire system. Anyways. Whenever I boot using the Legacy USB i get a "boot" message, then it shows "5" (that is the resolution profile it is selecting), and then it says "welcome to clover" and proceeds to show the disk launcher screen where I can select my volume to boot from. Whenever I boot using the UEFI USB i get no message at all, it goes straight to a black screen with a FLASHING cursor on the top left. I proceeded to copy CLOVERX64.EFI to the root of the EFI volume and rename it to SHELLX64.EFI as instructed by some guides on this specific mobo. When booting using that, I get a black screen with a SOLID cursor on the top left (and what seems like an odd resolution that it is being displayed at, as well). It never progresses from that point, and does not show the volume selection menu. I was wondering if it is at all possible to get the Asus P8P67 Deluxe Rev B3.0 @ 2302 patched bios (confirmed patched bios is working) with UEFI only. The 2302 bios does not have CSM or any option to do UEFI/Legacy Hybrid or UEFI only booting- so I cannot turn those off/change them.
chriz74x
As far as I know you only have to install clover on your disk (efi), put all the extra kexts, drivers, dsdt and ssdt in the respective folders. Then boot to an efi shell find the folder in fsx where CLOVERX64.efi resides (not the one in the usb) then do: bcfg boot dump (return) bcfg boot add 0 CLOVERX64.efi "osx" (return) . Remove the usb pen and restart the pc. P.s. Install clover (efi) on the usb too. You are not going anywhere with a legacy pen. P8P67 is EFI capable. And to boot in the uefi pen simply hit F8 at boot and select uefi:your_pen
Careless
what do you mean by "you are not going anywhere with a legacy pen" ?as I type this post, I currently booted from the legacy clover pen and I am in 10.10 right now, circumventing Chameleon what i was trying to explain was that "hit f8 at boot and select uefi: your_pen" does not work. that is exactly what I'm doing. it tries to read from the EFI partition on the USB key, but does not work. If I attempt to do it by selecting the legacy "USB" partition that has an "EFI" folder on it, it gets me here... into OSX and allows me to use the system. I'll try installing it onto the harddrive and see where that takes me. at least if it doesn't boot I can use this usb key to get back in here and configure stuff. EDIT: attempted to use 4.1.2 of this guide here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/302041-guide-asrock-h97-pro4-yosemite-with-clover-uefi-installation/and it didn't add Clover to the bootloader and did not allow me to select the UEFI: harddrive partition that loads the mac drive that i have yosemite installed on. The P8P67 UEFI bios does not have a UEFI add/remove dialog where I can add things to the UEFI boot options.
chriz74x
You have to install clover in the efi in the usb. If it's not booting to clover as uefi then simply you haven't a uefi pen.
Careless
also, my EFI partition on my mac HDD is being listed as Microsoft Basic Data --- EFI when doing a 'diskutil list' command You have to install clover in the efi in the usb. If it's not booting to clover as uefi then simply you haven't a uefi pen. dude, i did that. i tried it with 3 usb keys. that is why I am here asking questions. do you understand the nature of a web community/forum? I don't think you're reading my posts. i followed the instructions on different guides. they all result in the same thing when running as UEFI. it gets stuck or does not load at all. the bios even lists it as UEFI: usbkeyname in the boot options menu, and you're telling me i don't have a UEFI pen?It simply does not boot. I am wondering how to get it to boot as a UEFI pen rather than a Legacy install. thank you for your input, but your posts are not helpful.
chriz74x
how does the content of your efi partition in the usb look like? I have a p8h67-v and have absolutely no problem booting from uefi. Content should look like this:
Careless
thats how my drive looks. i've also tried copying cloverx64.efi to the EFI root folder and renaming to shellx64.efi as instructed in some guides, with no success.
chriz74x
Ok but you said that the EFI folder is in a legacy partition. How did you format the pen ?
Careless
Ok but you said that the EFI folder is in a legacy partition. How did you format the pen ? I followed the instructions on the Clover USB boot guide. You format the pen creating a GUID partition table. name it USB. then in the clover installer, you select options to install in the ESP as UEFI, or install as Legacy (which creates an EFI folder in the USB partition on the drive instead of the EFI (ESP) partition). If I choose to create a drive and install Clover on the EFI partition, it does not boot. if I choose to create a drive and install Clover on the USB partiiton in an EFI folder, it does boot. I am trying to boot it using the UEFI partition. aside from all that, I am in the midst of repairing my Macintosh HD EFI partition and will be trying to do this via EFI partition on the HDD, as it seems to be corrupt. But that does not mean the EFI partition on the USB key should not boot. It should still function. EDIT: repaired my EFI partition on my main harddrive that has Macintosh HD partition. Asus UEFI still won't pick up any of the files in there. Is there a way to remove all the UEFI entries and ask the ASUS bios to repopulate them all from scratch? chriz74x
Do you have secure boot enabled in bios?
Careless
Do you have secure boot enabled in bios? secure boot is not a feature in the 2302 bios, therefore it is disabled by default, as is CSM. Every time I try to boot an EFI partition, it just goes to a black screen with a solid cursor at the top left. Not a flashing cursor. I'm contemplating trying 3602 BIOS, which I have just patched. Careless
Ok, So i installed a 3602 patched bios and it will successfully boot from EFI partitions on any drive- this tells me that it was an issue with the older bios versions not booting EFI properly. All entries in the boot menu stating "UEFI" prefix now boot properly. However, it now shows an error when I try to load OSX from Clover, so I'm sure I'll figure it out. But I'm almost there. 3602 does not have native audio, only voodoohda. but i am using USB headphones so to me it does not matter.
chriz74x
What do you mean it doesn't have native audio? It has ALC889 which is supported through toleda on the fly HDAudio patch. Just download the toleda script, mount the EFI partition and run the script.

Just download the toleda script, mount the EFI partition and run the script. I'll try it, but as far as i know, 3602 Bios breaks audio on the p8p67 boards. your board is an h67 which is different. chriz74x
If voodohda works it means the hardware is recognized. Try the toleda script. Inject layout 3 for hdmi audio. Don't turn on hd4600 hdmi. (These are script options).

Careless
So audio definitely does not work, as indicated. It would be nice to say it is working- but to be honest I don't need it. I don't use HDMI or analog output on this computer. I have a Wireless Headset that I use all the time. I am attaching my boot log. I attempted to use an ATI Connectors, Data, and Controller patches outlined in another thread, as well as use the app that someone makes to facilitate adding it, and I found that the p8p67 memory addressing which is used on creating the kernel injections and whatnot is simply NOT large enough to use them. I kept getting the following error: OsxAptioFixDrv: AllocateRelocBlock(): can not allocate relocation block (0x16687 pages below 0x100000000) and then two lines of where it was trying to inject the modifications into the UEFI memory, and then it would pause for 10 seconds and return to the Clover GUI. My attempts at using OsxAptioFixDrv and OsxAptioFix2Drv, as well as using nickwoodham's Test2.efi modified LowMemoryDrv fix (in conjunction with OsxAptio files, which is who it's supposed to be run) did not seem to do much. Sometimes it would boot with a spare USB key with Clover UEFI and it would work. Sometimes it would not. Sometimes it would work with the Clover EFI on the hard disk, sometimes it would not. It was becoming extremely annoying, and I knew that the last thing I changed was the ATI stuff. I no longer found a reason to use the ATI info I put in there, and thus removing the Connector/Data/Controller information did the trick, so it must simply be a case of the fragmentation of the UEFI memory for early UEFI adopting boards. Some later boards still carry this issue (Some Gigabyte X99 boards), and it has to do with there simply not being a big enough single chunk in the memory to write the entire collection of kernel injections. Apparently if you write too many things to the memory to be patched or injected before the kernel is loaded, some UEFI mobos simply cant handle the block size. (This is what I've read in another post regarding some boards and OsxAptioFix2Drv. I don't understand it 100%, but I fixed it by backtracking and removing what broke it, so it's not a concern of mine). I tried to offset this issue by using "slide=0" and OsxAptioFixDrv (not Aptio2), and it didn't work either. Well... it worked once, and then did not work again. You can read about this issue here if you are having the same problem with a different board (it might work for you, it won't work for P8P67 Deluxe and perhaps other variants). https://nickwoodhams.com/x99-hackintosh-solving-osxaptiofixdrv-allocaterelocblock-can-not-allocate-relocation-block/ - VBios is loaded from Rom, and then PatchVbios is injected to allow 2560x1440 resolution for my monitor at Clover GUI. - CsmVideoDxe is also required to generate higher resolutions or allow them to be selected by Clover GUI in my case - Still having trouble deciding whether or not any other kernel patches, but right now I have disabled all of the ones in Kext & Kernel Patches in Clover configurator. --- Did not need the orange icon kext override --- Added TRIM support for non-apple HDD kext override. My next thing to tackle is DSDT and SSDT. I am loading DSDT and 6 SSDT files, but I'm not sure what they are doing to benefit my system. The DSDT was patched and returned 0 errors, 0 warnings, and had 126 optimizations, which is nice. I've never had a DSDT file look so clean. I'm running El Capitan theme, but I removed the call in the theme.plist for the floating progress bar, which is just a fake animation. It does not center properly on my 2560x1440 resolution, so I found it to be obnoxious. I will compile all the files I have and upload them in a ZIP with just a bit more testing so I can avoid passing any errors onto anyone who downloads it. Careless
For some reason, using ssdtPRgen and iMac12,2 SMBios Profile for the i2600k with the proper board ID, the SSDT is loaded, but the computer fails to boot. it hangs up on some apple80211receiver call or something, and then it doesnt even show the kernel panic, it just reboots. I got it to boot once by changing some random things in clover options, but I only had P-states 16 and 38 within AppleIntelInfo.kext log. It would not go out of the 1600mhz state at all, so basically the 3800mhz Turbo state was non functional. However... with the iMac13,2 SMBios Profile, it boots extremely fast. And it has 21 P-states. from 16, all the way up to 34, and an additional 35, 36, 37, 38 for Turbo mode. It's only missing P-state 17. And they are verified working within Intel Power Gadget app as well. Weirrrrrrrrd. But it works amazing, even with/without SSDT. everything works. Going to do some more testing and post Zip soon. Careless
What do you mean it doesn't have native audio? It has ALC889 which is supported through toleda on the fly HDAudio patch. Just download the toleda script, mount the EFI partition and run the script. Which toleda script did you use, and what bios is your P8H67-V? The cloverALC one does not work. Is your bios in the 3XXX number series, or 2XXX?
x1a0
OK this might be a long shot... but could you pleasssssse send me the patched bios firmware? I flashed original ones (I thought the builtin tool would backup old one) and got no way to go back... Thanks in advance.
Careless
unfortunately i don't know where I stashed the patched bios file. i thought i had saved it in my usual safe places- but that's not the case, apparently. i would recommend attempting to patch with the bios patching util http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/285444-uefipatch-uefi-patching-utility/
khris801822
Hello I have your same motherboard and also I can not operate the audio except with vodoohda (which still does it) ... you would spend your efi folder where there is dsdt and SSDT you've filled in and around the rest, please, I would like to try them ... The uSB 3 you can make them work? thanks in advance if you can help me ... P.S. excuse my bad English
