Passmore
Hi all, I just recently upgraded from a p8z68-v pro 2500k i5 Sandybridge, to a lovely Skylake GA-z170-UD5-TH x i7 6700k. All is working fantastically after a tricky setup, and system seems stable . Just one thing which has been frustrating to deal with, and although I've got it working now, I'm mostly just intrigued as to why this problem arose... My 780GTX was 100% native on all versions of OS X including El Capitan on the old Sandybridge Asus p8z68-v pro. It never required any boot flags and the os x driver seemed fast and responsive. At the time, I only changed to the nvidia drivers because everyone on here and other forums said they were better. Since upgrading to the Skylake setup, the GTX780 booted to a black screen without nv_disable, and I had to install the nvidia drivers to get proper function. I also had to edit a kext so that my system even loaded those drivers, and my card does that weird bootline in the bottom corner thing on startup. I'm running in UEFI mode with CSM disabled, and yes i have disabled IO/APIC Entries. All these problems are fixable, and most of them already fixed, I'd just love if someone could share some insight into WHY changing my motherboard has made my GTX go from native to unrecognised + lots of issues. bronxteck
i would start with looking over the old and new motherboard bios to compare settings and also smbios identifier info if changed to suit your new hardware.
