Nvidia vs AMD

I know this question has been asked a million times, but I can't seem to find a clear answer because of conflicting opinions. From what I understand, Nvidia is easier for beginners because of the web drivers (but may be unsupported in future updates), whereas AMD cards require a bit more configuration through the installation of kexts, but is more stable in the long run. I've heard some cards work OOB, others require special kexts, and some work with reduced functionality. I found this article: http://www.macbreaker.com/2012/06/hackintosh-graphics-cards.html

I'm considering the GTX 980 or R9 390X. Which one would be the most stable? For the record, I plan on using a lot of Adobe apps, and I understand they're CUDA-based, but I've also heard OpenCL works just as well.
