longxk Posted November 8, 2015 Share Posted November 8, 2015 Intel i5-4590 processorAsus H97i-Plus moboGigabyte GTX750Ti with a 4K@60Hz display via DisplayportJust installed El Capitan(10.11.1), my video card is not supported, so I installed nvidia web driver for El Capitan. With argument "nvda_drv=1", boot is ok, but the display is distorted.current bootloader is clover, have tried many boot args with no luck, the display is either distorted or at 1280x1024 resolution. With "nvda_drv=1" and connected with TeamViewer, I see the video card is recognized correctly, it has correct model name and vram. But the resolution is at 1920*1080 with another option:1366*768. so is there any way to force resolution to 4k?please help, thanks. longxk Posted November 10, 2015 Author Share Posted November 10, 2015 OK, finally get this problem solved.Somebody mentioned that the driver may have a pixel clock limit or framebuffer size limit, but most cases I found are Intel HD Graphics.Then I thought the problem may come from the display side, the display is either not recognized or recognized incorrectly. Mine is recognized as a 30.5-inch 1920x1080 display, which is not correct. In this case a EDID path may solve the problem. So I extracted EDID info in Windows, and put it in Clover's custom EDID, but didn't work.I googled for this, found El Capitan's EDID patch may be different, because there is no /System/Library/Displays/Overrides at all. But there is another app called FixEDID which claimes it has support for El Capitan. Open your EDID binary file, choose path only, select "Add/Fix Monitor Ranges" and click Make. Install that generated kext file, the display will be fine now.
