macguyver
I have an external 56K modem which connects to a standard COM port, this modem even works in DOS, Linux and SheepShaver! When i start Mac OS X and go to Network setting, it detects two built-in serial ports. But when i made a dial-up account using any of these ports and started dialing, it says "modem error"... None of the LEDs on the modem are blinking that means it didn't even touch the modem. Can anyone please tell me which modem is working ?
macgirl
Did you change the configuration of your modem? Which script yo choose?
macguyver
Did you change the configuration of your modem? Which script yo choose? Now ITS WORKING !! And i think all serial port modems should work. I started the network assistant and tried different modems, it works with "Apple Personal Modem" and some other modems as well. But i'm facing a small problem. When i load the webpage in Internet Explorer 5 or Safari, after loading 1 page or sometimes 2 pages, Mac OS X crashes completely! It displays the black screen which says press the power button to turn off the mac. I tried many times and get the same result. On the other hand, if i just use MSN Messenger, it doesn't crash. macguyver
Did anyone else try to surf the internet from a dial-up connection using an external serial modem? I tried different modems in Mac OS X including "Apple Personal Modem", the modem is working fine... I connect to the internet without any problems, i run Microsoft Messenger without any problems... but when i try to browse any webpage using any Browser, Safari, Internet Explorer, FireFox... it crashes the system after loading one or two pages... a black screen comes saying that i should press the power button to turn off. What could be the problem? I am running MS Office X, Dreamweaver MX, Adobe Photoshop CS and other applications without any problem, Mac OS X never crashes... here is my configuration: Pentium4 3.4Ghz Hyperthreading 512 mb DDR400 RAM Mac OS X installed on an external USB harddisk LG 56K external serial modem ATI Radeon 7000 VGA card
