stevensun1982
Hi there - I'm trying to install el capitan today on my vm workstation 12 pro (host is win 10). I've installed unlocker 2.0.7, I can see mac os x as a selection in my drop down. I prepared install iso with the below steps: 1. downloaded installation from appstore (on my macbook pro) 2. used "createinstallmedia" to create a bootable usb 3. used "dd" command line feature to create .iso image on my vmware workstation, I've created with "typical" settings with slight modification to 4 cores + 8G ram. Then added 'smc.version = "0" ' to the .vmx file. Starting the guest machine, I was able to see the apple starting screen with progress bar going below. Unfortunately at around 3/4 of the progress bar, it stopped and shows a white sign that normally indicating incompatible hardware. (as attached) I thought this was new validation for el capitan so tried to install with the same steps on yosemite, but still got exact same error screen at around the same position on progress bar. Can someone please let me know what I might have done wrong? Thanks in advance Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/308309-workstation-12-pro-on-win10-issue-installing-yosemiteel-capitan/ Share on other sites
trungpt
You are fast. I don't think we need to create the iso file, as far as I understand. Also, CYI.tool does not officially support MAC OS X 10.11 yet. LuXs
use the CYI tool from here and El capitan dont work yet with CYI.tool or CMI.tool it makes the files but it wont boot them so something needs to be modified in the script so just compare both scripts on a website that does this quick and easy and you will see there pretty much the same just a small difference. I tried both CMI and CYI and none of them works :/http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/290949-how-to-install-os-x-10x-snow-leopard-lion-mountain-lion-mavericks-and-yosemite-in-vmware-workstation-1011-or-player-67/page-1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/308309-workstation-12-pro-on-win10-issue-installing-yosemiteel-capitan/#findComment-2172083 Share on other sites

Will update as soon as we have a CECI version of the script to allow a clean install of El Capitan. 1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/308309-workstation-12-pro-on-win10-issue-installing-yosemiteel-capitan/#findComment-2172091 Share on other sites

stevensun1982
Thanks guys. I feel my issue might be a different one, the reason is that I tried both installing with Yosemite and Mavericks image, but still stuck at the same error screen ( as in my original post ). I also just tried with LuXs's temp solution by creating an usb bootable stick with both El Capitan and Yosemite, but still stuck at the same place, man I even got the same kingston data traveler 2.0. LuXs
Hehe cant believe we got the same usb stick I use 1 cpu 2 cores 4gb ram try that just to check if that works.I also used to install mavericks and yosemite the scripts that MSoK posted in the thread.Did you set the harddrive file to be 1 file instead of splitted? you choose this when you set up the VM. Totally love the sturdy construction and small form factor. And just to report back I'm able to install using your instructions on the usb stick + el capitan. Thanks a ton LuXs !
