SneakerElph
well, i've installed OS X to a partition on my hard drive using the deadmoo installer DVD. when i got done installing, i assumed that i'd get the Darwin bootloader, then i could change it back to the NT bootloader. well, i didn't get the darwin boot loader, just a message "DISK FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER." i tried booting my XP cd and using fixmbr. that told me it finished, so i "exit"ed and i sitll got the error. i had to reinstall windows to fix this. now i've added OS X to the boot.ini file using: c:\chain0="Mac OS X" and when i press it i get "NTLDR missing". i'm at a loss, so i hoped you guys could help. i'll be posting a picture of my Partition Magic window, in hopes that you can help me out. macgirl
Don't use logical partitions, use Primary for Mac OS. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/3083-ntldr-missing/#findComment-19601 Share on other sites

macgirl
If you have antoher HD you can copy your partition to that HD, then delete the extended partition and move back your partitions as Primary. SneakerElph
hmm... well my other hd that had os x on it died. what if i delete the os x partition, then add the free space to the XP partition? after that my HD would be back to how it was, then maybe you think i could create a primary? or is there no way to install OS X after XP? You have to have atleast 8 mb of unallocated space for windows to boot.If you install os x and use the install dvd to partition the space for os x it will use all the free space.you should use your xp cd to set up the partitions and make sure to leave 8 mb of unallocated space. SneakerElph
ok, i'll try that. but what about after i install tiger, it says "DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER" the darwin bootloader doesnt come up, and i have to reinstall windows to get it back (fixboot and fixmbr DONT work for some reason) i'd rather not install XP again. SUBMarcos
This is a FAILURE, not OS X installation. NTLDR missing shows up when there is no active partitions to boot from. That error is easily corrected if you find the first page on google that covers that error. By the way, in that page all possible causes are described there. Use common sense and move your post to "Failures" Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/3083-ntldr-missing/#findComment-19614 Share on other sites
ivon
I've come across the same problem when I am installing grub for MBR seveal days ago; you can try this: boot your pc with your XP CD, into the recovery command-line ,and copy the ntldr from cd\i386\ to your first active partition of the drive your windows installed. and then run: attrib +s +h ntldr then have a try Good luck Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/3083-ntldr-missing/#findComment-19702 Share on other sites
