mrnapolean1
Is it possible to install OS X Yosemite on a Dell Latitude D630? Here are the specs: CPU: Intel core 2 duo RAM: 2GB HDD: 250 GB WD Graphics: Intel GMA 950 WiFi: Dell Brodcom Ethernet: Dell Brodcom Screen Size: Unknown (it measures 14.1 diagnoally) Reason I ask because I am trying to get snow leopard to work but it appears that section of this forum is pretty much dead. bronxteck
the dell latitude d630 came with 2 graphics options one was gma x3100 the other nvidia chipset. x3100 is supported up to OS X 10.7.x as that was the last os to support arch=i386. the nvidia model will run yosemite though as the graphics card is supported in arch=x64. as a side note the motherboards are interchangeable between the 2 models. but you have to make sure to get the cpu heatsink for the nvidia graphics model as it has support to cool the nvidia gpu with. the gpu heat pipes are not provided on the x3100 intel cpu heatsink. bronxteck
first look at your bios and confirm your graphics if it mentions crestline graphics then you have gma x3100 with will not have graphics acceleration in yosemite. if it mentions nvidia 130 or 135 then it will run yosemite. domini99
Hey that's funny, I have a d630 lying around.I'll look what I can do. My d630 has the X3100, I have ran 10.6 on it succesfully but never anything more. EDIT:Okay I found a very quick conclusion:If your D630 has the X3100 gpu, which your laptop has.... I'm sorry it isn't going to work, atleast not with graphics acceleration. You're gonna be stuck without graphics drivers. bronxteck
the D430 and D620 came with GMA 950 not the D630. neither the D620 or the D430 run yosemite. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/305937-yosemite-on-d630/#findComment-2134455 Share on other sites
