krrr
UPDATE :- well, for this "HFS+ partition error", I have discovered all the pitholes regarding it and here it goes. 1 - The type of osx86 partition HAS TO BE "AF" and NOT "A7". for linux = so when you do cfdisk from terminal, this partition SHOULD and will show up as unknown, which is right. if it says NeXTSTEP cause you did A7, then its wrong type. 2 - The osx86 partition HAS TO BE primary. 3 - Still if you get HFS+ partition error, do the following (taken from wiki here, which no one here pointed me towards) FOR LINUX :- Copy all the files from /usr/standalone/i386 of the Darwin CD to a partition in NTFS, FAT or ext but not hfs on your hard disk, and put this in menu.lst : title OSX_X86 rootnoverify (hd0,2) <- replace hd0,2 by the partition where you have copied chainloader files. makeactive chainloader /chain0 Tip :- you have hda1 = (hd0,0), hda2 = (hd0,1) and so on If you partition with OSX was hdb2, then it is (hd1,1) ----------===============---------------- FOR WINDOWS You can also use the Windows bootloader (Windows XP/2000/2003/MCE2005 tested and working). First, copy the file chain0 (DEV-DVD or tiger-x86 image at /usr/standalone/i386/chain0) to the root of your Windows drive (usually C:\). Now add a new line to your boot.ini (C:\boot.ini opened with Notepad will do). [Note : Uncheck temporarily the attribute Read only of boot.ini to save changes] : C:\chain0="Mac OS x86" Be sure to check you didn't mess up the boot.ini file by going to Start - Run and typing in "msconfig" and pressing OK. Now go to the Boot.ini tab and press Check All Boot Paths. reboot and check. -----------below was my original post when i had SOS situation ------------------------- well.. i am stoked here... i just dont seem to be able to see the disk partitioned using diskpart in winxp. i read all tips here and went to lenght in this forum to find diff solutions. used diskpart "create partition primary size=7000 id=a7" then used dd if=tiger-flat.img of=\\?\.Device\Harddisk0\Partition0 bs=512 skip=63" to get image on disk but see the image attached. i dont think the harddisk has got properly typed for booting. i even booted to ubuntu live and tried checking /dev/hda with fdisk and cfdisk. it jsut doesnt show up. i am stoked. can somebody help me please.. i am on this whole day . attached a image to explain better. krrr
so i guessed my DD image command was doing mishap. i took a break. went to my work and came back again on the prob. i think the break did the trick. i just altered the location of \\?\Device\Harddisk0\Partition0 to \\?\Device\Harddisk0\Partition1 and thats the correct location i guess cause after this the disk made by diskpart didnt disappear but i could see it in ptedit too. but i rebooted to find the HFS+ error staring at me again. rebooted by to winxp disk. now here. i edited the second part of harddisk to "80" (refer to attached image) and rebooted again but .. on reboot the HFS+ partition error STILL THERE i just cant believe my bad luck its near to 3 am in morning and i am very very very sad person on earth right now.i just hope someone is going to see this and show the bright light and my osx will finally boot. with sad tears and sunken heart i sign off. waiting for someone to answer. JaS
Why are you guys using diskpart?why not just make the partition fat32 and boot the install dvd and partition it to hfs+ from the os x installer-->disk utility Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/3039-diskpart-created-partition-doesnt-work-hfs-error-shows-on-boot/#findComment-192719 Share on other sites
