NoSmokingBandit
I've been working on this for a few hours now and I just can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I've followed the guide here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/280756-guide-the-all-in-one-guide-to-vanilla-os-x-including-chameleon-dsdt-for-beginners-updated-for-yosemite/ to create an installer on my external hdd. When I go to boot up it goes through the normal fast-scrolling text where it loads kexts and whatnot. Then it reboots. Every single time. I don't know if there is a log file of this stuff anywhere, but I can't get it to do anything except load kexts and reboot. What can I try next? ameris_cyning
Are the specs in your signature up to date? This is a very common problem, but I have never seen it before on an old Core 2 based system What you need to do is install Clover and set KernelPM=true Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/303806-cant-get-installer-to-load/#findComment-2101837 Share on other sites
NoSmokingBandit
Yeah, my signature specs are accurate. I always use Chameleon because I've never gotten Clover to boot at all. Every time I use Clover my bios stalls right before the bootloader would start. Is there a fix that can be done with Chameleon? Yes Download an AMD kernel (yes, they work on Intel machines) and drop it into /System/Library/Kernels on your USB drive. The AMD kernels do not suffer from instant reboot problems because they do not have the Power management thing built into them. When you have installed OS X, boot back up to your USB drive, open terminal and type cp /System/Library/Kernels/kernel /Volumes/HARDDRIVENAMEOFINSTALL/System/Library/Kernels/kernel Its not a pretty fix but I think it could work Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/303806-cant-get-installer-to-load/#findComment-2101916 Share on other sites
