avin7000
Does that method works? If it does it would be nice and you don't need to backup/restore. iCloud Keychain also will work (I don't know how to take back up in Mavericks and restore in Yosemite) Anyways, I chose this upgrade method (I booted via Clover) and installation was successful. However I can't boot into the system cos of KP. Currently I am trying to debug the issue. Kucksy
Hello from Troy I performed the upgrade install on my system (which is currently as follows - Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD5-B3 motherboard, Intel Core i5 2500K cpu, 16 GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600 RAM, 2 x 2 TB WD Green HDD's, DVD+/- RW, 2 x Gigabyte AMD R9 270 OC Edition graphics cards in CrossFire). It worked fine - although to be on the "safe" side I did create disk image files (.dmg) of my mavericks installation before I attempted the upgrade install of Yosemite. Have you tried booting with -v -kext-dev-mode=1 to see where the KP is occurring ?? (and if so, is it possible to take a screenshot of the panic - it might help to find a solution to your problem. Also providing your system specifications could assist others (including myself) in helping you out Many thanks from Troy Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/303286-anyone-tried-upgrade-os-x-option-in-yosemite-installation-on-mavericks-hackintosh/#findComment-2094437 Share on other sites
avin7000
Well yes, I do have back up, so I am not really worried. And yes, I am boring with those kernel flags actually. Great News! I can actually boot! Here's what happened, I started my machine to take pic, but I couldnt, so I rebooted and now it didn't KP! But I couldn't enter my password, as my keyboard started weirding out. If I press space/control lots of characters are getting printing into password bar and I can't login. So I deleted Rehabman's VooDoo kexts. Now I can reboot and also can connect keyboard via USB. 1. But touchpad and keyboard are not working 2. USB3 ports are not working, even for keyboard or mouse So I have only one port and I have to do all that from that one. Will boot into recovery and try installing kexts again. EDIT: okay, I am not able to boot into Recovery. Display doesn't appear I have nVidia graphics card and it needs patching of AppleGraphicsControl.kext and I have done it already. Does that patch does not apply when I am booting into recovery? EDIT2: Booted into recovery with nv_disable=1. Installed latest Rehabman's VooDooPS2 and booted into Yosemite, still it doesn't work. Again booted back to recovery and removed Rehabman's kexts. Status so far: 1. Yosemite: USB3 ports doesn't work, not even for Mouse/Keyboard. Native laptop trackpad/keyboard are also not working. Graphics work as I have patched AppleGraphicsControl.kext. Ethernet works, but audio does not. 2. Recovery: USB ports work. Graphics doesn't work had to boot with nv_disable.
