ila225
Hi, This is what happens with videos: Back in Mavericks I had this issue of video artifacts and all I had to do was disable the integrated Intel GPU, and everything worked. However, with Yosemite, I found that if I don't enable the IGPU, videos on browsers won't play, like on youtube, facebook, even apple's website videos will present issues, always returning with "PlugIn Failed". Also, even FaceTime is failing with video playback. Video files icon previews are also messed up. So I turned the IGPU back to enabled on BIOS, but now the old video artifact / glitch is back. If I try again, like calling on FaceTime again or just reloading the page with video, it will play ok. But the first time it is almost certain that it will fail with that issue. Would anyone have any idea on how to tackle this? My specs are: Gigabyte GA-Z87-D3HP Intel i5-4670k 16GB Clover 2953 - UEFI boot
Craig Pettigrove
I have this same issue! My videos work with VLC, but look exactly like your video when playing with Quicktime. Not sure what the issue is. I am booting from my GTX 760, but have my IGFX enabled in Bios. HD4600 is showing up under system report Graphics/Displays. ila225
Yep, it has something to do with CoreVideo or whatever the heck is used through the entire system. For example, even Mouse in System Preferences comes up messed up: But if I close that and open it again, it comes up ok. This only happens with the IGPU enabled in bios. I remember in Mavericks it even happened on Maps, perhaps issues with CoreImage too. The problem is, I have the system as iMac 14,2, and before, I had it as Mac Pro 3,1. I changed because that would be a more "close to my specs" hardware definition, but then, with the IGPU disabled in BIOS, I started having crashes with Flash videos, or any videos, even Apple ones from their website on browsers. Enabling the IGPU fixed that, but now there is corruption everywhere. I've found somewhere a guy mentioning that if you put iMac 14,2 you'll have those crashes in videos. Perhaps I should try to bring it back to Mac Pro 3,1 with IGPU disabled again. Just would be nice to check if someone else has had any luck fixing this. ? DeathSquad
ila225, do you have any graphics cards installed? My SMBIOS is configured for an iMac 14,2 and works like a dream 100%. So thats not your issue.... Might be clover, try switching to chameleon!!! Craig, load your video bios for the GTX 760 by using this argument, VBIOS=Yes Also make sure you have the latest web drivers and CUDA installed. Turn your internal graphics off and hook up you monitor to the GTX, Your install is having trouble finding out which one to use. Pull the GTX out or turn off internal graphics. Do you have your IGPU on in BIOS? Which CPU?
ila225
Well, quick update. I gave up on the iMac 14,2. Disabled IGPU in BIOS and rolled back to SMBIOS of a Mac Pro 3,1. Everything works perfectly now. My iMessages and FaceTime are locked again and I'll have to call Apple again, but other than that, all good. I was hoping for additional functionality with the iMac 14,2, specially since the processor is the same yada yada... but that just brought issues. I haven't tried only with the IGPU, but if I were to do that, I would have bought a Mac Mini already. I wanted the power GPU, and here the hackintosh is, hehe. Craig Pettigrove
DeathSquad - Thanks for the help. Let me ask you a few questions. Is this the right clover command - <key>LoadVBios</key> <Yes/> Also make sure you have the latest web drivers and CUDA installed - Where do I get the latest drivers and Cuda? Craig Pettigrove
I installed the Nvidia drivers and that made my system not be able to boot. Not sure what I did wrong or if anyone else had a problem with the latest nvidia drivers for Yosemite.
