zibertron
Hi all, I know this question has been asked before but no one has answered the other questions. So I thought I would take a stab at asking. When I first tried playing with os x i used 10.4.1 which worked like a charm in regards to my monitor and vid card. I had no problems with it, and decided to try a newer rev. Well then I tried JaS 10.4.7 and i was able to install it just fine. Oh by the way, I am only able to install os x via vmware and daemon tools. I have googled it to death, and it seems that the problem is the res and the refresh rate. I can connect my crt monitor just fine, so i have tried to set the resolutions from lowest to highest. I set it to one setting, unplug the crt and then plug it to my lcd and it gives me the msg every instance that I try. I guess my question is, how can I fix this and/or is there some kext file that I can swap out from the 10.4.1 dvd? please, please....someone help me out....this is the only thing that is stopping me from using mac os x. btw. my crt is old and not working well....that is why i got the lcd. Just incase your wondering why i just dont use my crt. my specs are in the sig.... thanks all! The msg was/is "input not supported" only on my lcd, even tho it works fine on my crt. thanks :censored2: Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/29989-gma-950-envision-19-professional-series-lcd/#findComment-207597 Share on other sites
wondergod
alright shut the pc down and plug the lcd in....when booting hit f8 when you get the black screen hit f8 then type ?video it should give you all the video options available... take one from the list and type(example) "Graphics Mode"="1024x768" with quotes it maybe when you are setting the res with your crt you are not changing the refresh rate...and your lcd is going to use a lower setting like 60 or so...mine actually uses 61 are you using dvi or vga...quick google looks as if your machine only comes with vga...just want to be sure though... zibertron
ok so i have an update. I did some more serching in the forums, and found people had similar problems. Well I guess instead of it saying "input not supported" they would get an out of sync error msg. Ok so most of the post had something to do with the callisto drivers, which I did try. It said something about changin the Monitor type from MONITOR_TYPE,EDID to DFP,EDID and adding the hex value of the monitor. I did everything to the t, but still no go , so i connected another crt that I had laying around. This one was my old montior that came with my gateway comp. Anyway it actually detected that monitor, had the name of it and everything. so I changed the res and the refresh rate to some similar when I did the ?video with my lcd. I unpluged my gateway monitor and pluged in my lcd and voiela....it worked. so I changed the res and it went dark but came back....so I was thinking hurray for me...i did it on my own. only one problem, it still showed the name of my gateway monitor. So I hit the detect display and poof just like that it was gone again and the "input not supported" came back I dont know what more to do, and no one really seems to know either. Arrrrggg....ce la vi Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/29989-gma-950-envision-19-professional-series-lcd/#findComment-208338 Share on other sites
kristie_jeff
If it were me, I would put the Gateway CRT on again, set the resolution and refresh rate back to the settings that worked, put the LCD on again and leave it alone. Doesn't matter what it calls it, as long as it works. kristie_jeff
is there a startup string that will tell the os not to detect the video? zibertron
is there a startup string that will tell the os not to detect the video? Good question, I have no clue. What I do know is that the com.apple.Boot.plist does not have any settings stored in it. So its not like its getting it from there, although I think I should put it in there. That is to say the res and refresh rate. But I really dont think it has to do with the refresh and res so much, because when I do the "detect display" and it goes away. I just unplug it and plug in my gateway monitor, it stays at the same res and refresh rate as it was b4 it goes blank. So, I dl yet again another version iso 10.4.6. im installing that now.... lets see how that one goes.
