macprodan
K, i got a few spares lying around and am gonna build a new OSX rig for the Family. the P4 3.0Ghz Presscott Socket 478 does not work in a old Dell Computers intel mobo i have lying about, used to have a 2.53 Ghz Northwood in it. anyway i can mod this P4 via the pins to change the FSB speed so it would work.?? if this is not possible, what would be the best mobo to get for it.. Needs to have supported AGP / LAN / Sound and SATA i will throw in a 9600 Pro 256mb or a 9800 Pro 128Mb with a 120 GB Samsung SATA Drive.... Does not have to have AGP if it has GMA on board..?? do S478 have GMA900's.? Thanks..
Vipersfate
I have the Asus P4S800D-X, witha little configuration with IDE, sound, it works great. I have the Pentium 4 Prescott 3Ghz as well SSE3 :censored2: IDE Controllers http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=16457 Sound http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=16404 Sound has to go OUT through the MIC port. Other than that, it runs great. I'm using it as my main OS at this time. Asus P4S800D-X Only problem with that board, is that I have to disconnect all USB devices or no OS will boot, but it's not a bad problem. Unfortunately, it currently does not have SATA support, but I smell that in the near future
