I am currently running 10.4.7 and am guessing I screwed up during install of 10.4.6 and chose to install SSE2 patch instead of SSE3 patch..

Is there anyway to get this to detect SSE3 now?

Output of 'sudo dmesg' command (thanks Rammjet!):

Would like to resolve this so I can update to 10.4.8 and the update packages from JaS are 'SSE' specific for Intel

Thanks!

At first blush, if I were wanting to do this, I would try the following.

Download Pacifist from Charlessoft.

In OSX, insert the 10.4.6 install DVD and let it mount on the Desktop.

On that DVD, go to /System/Installation/Packages

Find the Intel SSE3 package (might be called 10.4.6.Intel.SSE3.pkg)

Open this package in Pacifist.

Select the mach_kernel and click on the Install button in the Pacifist toolbar

Then, using the arrows in Pacifist, open System -> Library -> Extensions

Click on AppleSMBIOS.kext and install it (if it is there)

Exit Pacifist.

Remove the files /System/Library/Extensions.mkext and /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache

Repair permissions on the OSX partition

Reboot.
