GoM
Well recently I wanted to test a self-destruction method incase my computer is ever stolen, so does anyone know the best way to make an installation unbootable, but leaving the disk "mostly" intact? I was thinking about making a shell script to delete an important system resource needed to boot, but does anyone know what I could do. PS. I am only looking for a solution for my own computer, I would never destroy another man's computer ;-)
Rammjet
On a real Mac, I believe deleting this file should stop it from booting: /usr/standalone/i386/boot.efi On a Hackintosh, I believe this directory: /usr/standalone/ppc But with a little work, your data could still be accessed. If you want much greater security, save your data using FileVault: System Preferences -> Security
