Hi everyone.

Im having some issues..

I want to get a functional dual boot with Win 8.1 and Mavericks.

Right now I have a fully functional mavericks SSD.. Installed using clover method. Im able to boot with no problems to Mavericks..

But when I want to boot to my windows partition nothing happens, just stays on a black screen... Dont know how to proceed right now ..

Would apreciate some help so I can keep going :)

Thanks!

What are your machine specs?  Is your BIOS set to boot in uefi mode or legacy?
Open Windows Disk Management console and find out how it is installed

  • if it has a "System Reserved" partition, it has been installed in legacy BIOS mode on a MBR or hybrid MBR partitioned hard drive.
  • if it has an "EFI" system partition, it has been installed in (u)efi mode on a GPT partitioned hard drive

Clover can sometimes have issues booting legacy BIOS installed Windows -see Pene's post #3351 in Clover General Discussion.  Also to boot in this way, the "system reserved" partition must be selected instead of the actual Windows partition.

My recommendation - if using Clover, install Windows in (u)efi mode eg I did this on my old BIOS based XPSm1530 laptop, procedure described in this post.

For legacy BIOS installed Windows, chameleon is often more compatible in a dual booting scenario with OSX.

Converting an existing legacy install of Windows on a MBR disk to (u)efi/GPT is doable but a risky procedure so make full backups of data first - see this guide.
