trav1085
I heard in IRC that JaS had 10.4.8 working, well, in development, so I'm wondering if he's released it yet for Intel SSE2 and SSE3, as I want that update. Rammjet
I heard in IRC that JaS had 10.4.8 working, well, in development, so I'm wondering if he's released it yet for Intel SSE2 and SSE3, as I want that update. He released SSE3 on Monday 10/2 and SSE2 on Tuesday 10/3. Your cave doesn't get internet access? There is important information for correcting an error in the release found in this thread: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=29224 Go to Green Demon to find the releases. Kiko also published three 10.4.8 updates. Go to Pirate Bay. graphic Design
To Rammjet Now what patch 10.4.8 U're using now? KIKO OR JAS? How it work? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/29591-has-jas-released-1048/#findComment-204087 Share on other sites
bgrau
JaS is also working on a combo update for 10.4.8, maybe it will be even better than his delta update... Rammjet
To RammjetNow what patch 10.4.8 U're using now? I am not using any 10.4.8 update. I am waiting for the bugs to be worked out. Besides, with the lack of new Rosetta and new OpenGL and any new kexts, running 10.4.8 won't give me any great benefit over the 10.4.7 I'm running now. bgrau
Hi Rammjet, I did reverse to 10.4.7 JaS release after realising that I cannot boot to GUI Safe mode (F8 -x). For me too 10.4.7 is great, very happy with it, it is also much faster than Windows XP However it will be better to have 10.4.8 so that we get security releases, but ultimately we will have to fold when we cannot update anymore, or Leopard is released, unless we change to core duo... Rammjet
t will be better to have 10.4.8 so that we get security releases The current security updates for 10.4.7 get you most of the way there. Besides, very few people try to use the security exploits found on a Mac. The ones being reported are found by groups who's goal is to discover and point out exploits needing to be fixed. But none of them have been found to actually be exploited. There is little to no spyware (yet) for OSX. Security update 004 is safe to install on Intel Hacintoshes and OK to install on AMD Hackintoshes with an additional fix. Security update 005 is for Airport. Installing it will probably break your wireless hacks, but you should be able to re-do the hacks. but ultimately we will have to fold when we cannot update anymore, or Leopard is released, unless we change to core duo... We are currently running the latest hacked (by Maxxuss) kernel from 10.4.4. There are ongoing efforts to hack later kernels, but haven't been successful yet. The latest kernels depend heavily on core duo and core 2 duo technology. It still will take a very large hacking effort to get the kernel working on core duo/core 2 duo Hackintoshes. It will take an even more intense effort to get the kernel working on other processors. I haven't yet seen that talent demonstrated. We will probably run some version of an OS we will call 10.5, but it will have a lot of 10.4.x under the hood and will be 10.5 in name only.
