AmenoSagiri
I have been using Windows since the late 90s, and decided I want to see a change of scenery (I am also getting into Adobe After Effects and I'm considering using that with Mac). I am looking at dual booting OSX and Windows 8 off the same hard drive (Sata 2/3, AHCI mode). I've done a lot of looking around the last few days, but I just can't seem to find the right direction for me because my computer I built a few months ago has a new motherboard and CPU, and Mavericks seems new as well. I was wondering if anyone can give me some guides, pointers, or tips that can be directly related to my hardware on how to get OSX Mavericks (Or Mountain Lion if it's not possible) installed on my computer alongside Windows 8. I've read some things about DSDT Patches but I'm still not entirely sure. I learn better from interaction with others who know what their doing. Almost everything about my computer: Hard Drive #1: Western Digital WD Blue WD6400AAKS 640GB 7200RPM Sata 3.0GB/s http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136218 Hard Drive #2: Seagate Barracude ST2000DM001 2TB 7200RPM Sata 6.0GB/s CPU: Intel i7-4770 (Stock clocks) GPU: EVGA GTX 770 ACX Cooling (2 Monitors, one through HDMI, one through DVI) Motherboard: MSI Z87-G43 LGA 1150 Intel Z87 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130694 Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws Series 8GB 2x4GB 240-pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231314 PS/2 Mouse, Keyboard through USB 2.0. dcai777
1. Read the fourm rules... No bumping 2. Distros such as iATKOS are not supported. We always use retail OS X. Check this out: http://myhack.sojugarden.com/guide/ You need Mavericks probably for best hardware support... Gringo Vermelho
That's not true. I know we have a new moderator who likes to say otherwise but he needs to read the forum rules again. Distros are "supported" but a retail installation is of course always recommended. The trouble with using a distro is finding someone who can support you. Personally I tend to ignore posts by users who use distros, there are too many unknowns. 1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/295842-installing-osx-for-first-time-on-custom-built-pc/#findComment-1991932 Share on other sites
